So you are against the NDAA, how did you feel about the Patriot Act?

Ok I know the NDAA is old news by now, but I was talking to my dad today. He is a straight Neo-Con and reminds me of a few Sodahead users. He goes off on this tangent about how Obama is taking away our civil liberties with the NDAA. Maybe he heard Rush say something about it recently I dont know. So I had to ask him "Well dad how did you feel about the Patriot Act when Bush signed that". No answer real answer from him. So to me its almost like RINOs are bashing the NDAA because Obama, the anti christ signed it. They totally ignore that John McCain wrote a large portion of it. But GWB was totally right to sign the Patriot Act. Ohhhhh the irony.

I am sick of all of it.Who knows what they will try to pull on us next.........they are following a pattern here and it is not the constitutional one .But so what, they are all the same and have the same goals in mind.
The irony of it lost on most people on both sides.

The NDAA is just more of the same...and goes even further to remove/restrict our rights under the Constitution. "Those who give up their Freedoms for Safety are neither Free nor Safe."

The Patriot Act was needed (please tell me why if you believe this)

The Patriot Act was invoked after we were attacked on Sept 11. It's scary, no doubt about that, but NDAA?? Why, for what reason?

I always tell the Neo-Cons that if they really liked Bush, then they should really love Obama. More wars, more attacks on the Constitution, Neo-Cons used to love that stuff.
I bet if John "Traitor" McCain was POTUS & carrying out the same, & Faux News Channel was telling them how wonderful & conservative it was, they would be in absolute glee!

In truth, the Patriot Act was our declaration of surrender to the terrorists. We HAVE changed who we are in response to their 'terror', and the Terrorist Surrogate Agency is aimed not at Muslim terrorists, but at American Citizens.

I don't have any problem with a standing warrant to monitor phone calls outside the US. AFAIK that's all the PA did. Any fool can monitor a cell phone call; it's very low-tech. What part of the Constitution do you believe is violated?

The Patriot Act was the FIRST of the neoFascist Laws passed as part of the US's version of the German Enabling Acts. One only has to look at the convenient unleashing of the still-unsolved Anthrax letters case to see how important this law's passage was to the Predatory Industrial Ruling Class. What it also illustrates is the BI-PARTISAN nature of Corporate Fascism John Trudell 33,000,000

What they DID find out was that the weaponized strain of Anthrax USED in the letters was traced DIRECTLY back to the US Bioweapons Lab in Fort Detrick, Md. ANYBODY can write a note saying what was said. HOW many Islamic Jihadists worked at Fort Detrick and had access to Weaponized Anthrax?

The Patriot act was brought about by fear. We stood by and let it happen. That was kind of an excuse. It should never have been allowed.
We have no excuse for letting this happen again.

Exactly. 9/11 was the first thing that happened since Pearl Harbor. Terrible things were done back then because of fear, such as the Japanese camps.
