So we had this guy jump from 24 miles up, break the speed of sound; and nobody on SH is discussing it or did I just missed it?

Wow. The guy harnessed the eternal force of gravity. Whoopie.

I'd be more interested to see what the result would be had the chute not opened.

There are really important issues to talk about & this isn't one of them. As usual, the media distracting people from REAL issues like pinning down the culprits of the murder of 4 US peacekeepers in Libya. So typical of the media--to let the Obama administration get away with everything-now including, literally, murder.

Yep, murder most foul...not that murder was ever good but I was surprised obama went for it.

Ooooooooo! Another "it's a media conspiracy" conspiracist! Let me guess? The media is now run by the "state" at least since Obama's been in office and he's the Kenyan born, Muslim, anti-Christ. That about cover your paranoid view points? Good.

I thought it was incredible! Imagine standing up there and having your faceshield freeze up so you got to jump blind. Eh, what you going to see anyway?

That ground crew was something, wasn't it? Couldn't even get the wind direction right. Why didn't that bozo count down for him so he would know not to pull the rip cord until after he broke the freefall record?

I would have been more impressed if he never pulled the parachute and survived to make a perfect 10-point landing in Times Square at mach 1. That is how you make an impressive entrance.

He would also credit his perfect landing to his really strong leg muscles.

It is incredible news, but the Sodaheads are either too busy spreading political hate or asking you if they're pretty to notice.

This is an incredible story. I watched this go down live on the internet stream. I was actually choked up when he landed, because I knew that I witnessed an absolute feat of human daring. The human spirit: to do something because it's there... that's what life is all about sometimes. What a view he got to enjoy!

As a side note, someone shot at a Democratic headquarters last week, but not a single story about that either on Sodahead... probably because most of the folks on this site think that person pulling the trigger is some kind of "patriot."

How many people did it help? Food is on the table for how many because of it? Just curious, how much did this show cost? Bet it was six figures or better? Could it have been better spent?

Scientific knowledge, data, and other information was recorded. Human knowledge was increased, and for a few brief moments, those who watched were inspired.

As for funding: This was a private venture done by a very successful company with a passion for such things.

It was a stunt. Funding certainly could have been better spent!

Jealous much? Go out and learn how to skydive. Design your pressure suit and capsule from scratch. One day, when you're flying in plane that is safer at high altitude, you can thank people like this.

Lmao jealous? Why would I be jealous of such a dumb thing. Lol.
Look I didn't say that I don't appreciate his effort - I do that he survived and broke a record.
But people were exaggerating it a lot as if he found the cure for some medicine.
I don't see that as an act of bravery - brave are the soldiers who fight for the country and what they do is in fact inspiring. What if someone else tries to break this record? That would result in death or near death. I appreciate all the scientific data but the money used for it could've been used for a better cause. I don't see the point in it.
