I actually should be living in a purple State being that I am a Libertarian. Living in Illinois, I feel like a fish out of water, and it isn't a good feeling at all. I don't feel that the State Legislatures in Illinois represent me or my ideals at all, and I would like to see this nation get away from the so-called Republican-Democratic control for power or domination altogether.
I feel that individual should have Rights and it is the Duty of the State to protect those Indiividual Rights not infringe on them like Illinois and other states do today.

I beg to differ my friend. Maybe in Congress they do, but not locally. For example, I'm a Progressive, but I love guns and I support gun rights. Here in Oregon, I can buy guns in 15 minutes, sometimes sooner, without a license or permit, from a gun store, gun show, or pawn shop. There is only an age restriction of 18 years old for rifles and 21 for handguns. If it's a private sale, I can buy a gun from someone and I don't even have to register it! Although it is recommended you at least check the serial number to see if it's stolen. You can even make private sales of guns straight across with no paperwork. I recently even had over 1000 rounds of ammo mailed straight to my door! Also if you love hunting, Oregon is a hunter's paradise! It really is a great mix of the two political spectrums.

A red or blue state does not matter. The color really comes from the big cities where wealthy liberal progressives gather. It is in the large urban areas where you find most universities and colleges, huge local and county government infra structures, pricey social programs, little to no fiscal accountability and domineering not it all media outlets. The remainder of most blue state square mileage is 80 or 90% red. The ebb and flow of liberal progressives are like migrating and massing animals gathering for self protection, aggrandizement, and domination.

There is some truth in that. I live in Birmingham Alabama. Alabama may be the reddest of red but Birmingham could not be more blue. I have also heard that most of Northern California is conservative as can be. It really is urban vs. rural.

I don't agree with his reasoning for why it's true that big cities tend to be liberal, but it's obvious to me that big cities are more often liberal than the rest of the nation.
Chicago is very liberal, the suburbs are mostly moderate republicans, and another 30 minutes out into the rural area and you have a very red area.

All one needs to do is look at the job creation in the VASTLY blue states and see how big Government spending kills jobs, kills businesses, strangles productivity and creates a population of needy people. Government regulation in BLUE states is completely out of control!

Mississippi is the most conservative state and also the poorest, and has the highest unemployment rate, and on a side note the leader in teen pregnancies. I can't say that deregulation would be any better, in fact it would be worse.
