I don't know anyone who can AFFORD to send their child ..
Much less MULTIPLE Children ..
for a MONTH of Summer Camps ..
(Especially a few states away from where their residence is) ..
Begs the question ..
how much of this was bill was at Taxpayer Expense too ..
(and that includes the Federal Employees integrated into the camp as well .. )
(for I know folks from all walks of life .. good folks too)
I have no problem with those who earn their own incomes ..
pay all their own bills from their own incomes ..
providing for their children ..
But in this case ..
these masses of expenses billed to the Taxpayers ..
(and being a TAXPAYER .. I'm rightly incensed .. )
I .. like many others .. are CONCERNED about the amount of WASTE going on ..
of OUR Taxpayer resources ..
Besides, I'm assuming we're putting up for SS...which isn't anything surprising. At least it's not a vacation in Juarez.

You might understand what hard work is, but do you understand how little government spending impacts the government--whether or not a debt limit is increased or we enact a balanced budget amendment? It's all a gimmick. No one wants to cut spending unless it's to cut spending on avenues used by the public. We'll spend on war, on the military, on foreign and national interests, on national security. But on what is actually needed? No, we need to cut those programs because we're spending too much. Pork, it's what's for dinner.
It's a clever game. Nothing changes, not even the politicians we keep electing year after year. Government always has money.
when the funds for these travels are STOLEN from Military Health Care?
when servicemembers find themselves having to purchase their own kevlar/weapons for deployment?
when those injured on Military Duty are told by their Military Docs .. to use their PRIVATE insurance (or pay out of pocket) for the care they need for their Service-Connect Disabilities/Injuries?
when the Service Connect Veteran purchases all their ancillary needs (for example .. canes, walkers, adaptations to their homes .. etc)?
This is NOT 'inconsequential' by any means .. and to have these booze it up .. enjoy obscenely expensive meals .. have them use OUR Defense resources as personal taxis for vacations and luxury shopping trips ... then add on the cost of all the personnel/travel expenses for the support services too ..
add fuel costs .. wear/tear .. the accelerated speed at which our DEFENSE resources are hitting their max service lives ..
this is HORRIBLE WASTE of our Defense Resources ..
(then add on the rest of the expenses .. that are shifted/slid to other departments .. which also take away from legitimate needs of these public services too) ..
If we weren't bogged down with Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom and even funding terrorists, we might have bought a cane or two for a needy veteran. Then again, we still wouldn't because we have better things to appropriate government funds to, such as subsidizing some industry or another.
We spend far more on the military than any other country, by a large amount. Why are we hitting a breaking point? The common rhetoric today is that we have to get serious about social security and medicare. Yet those that are self-professed fiscal conservatives haven't been serious about military spending. Somehow I don't think telling the Bozo in the White House to not go on anymore vacations will impact our budget the slightest bit. It's peanuts that will never be seen by military veterans either way.

Do you even understand anything about the Federal Budget cycle .. and the differences in which departments are required to submit (detailed .. vice departments with no oversight at all .. ) .. do you know the difference and the impacts of when authorizations/appropriations do NOT agree line by line? Do you understand the POLITICALIZATION .. the "politics" .. the pay for play that these in "BODY POLITIC" do to TINKER with the National Defense Budget (and how that impacts our ability to defend our nation)? Do you know the budget cycle itself .. or what life cycle costing is (and how service lives .. useful lives of anything is determined?) How about the differences between departments where competitive procurement is required .. vice those departments that are politically directing purchases to bundlers of the sitting /body politic/ (which is sheer corruption/organized criminal activity)?
There's far more to the Spending patterns .. than the shill at the top .. which is just the public face of the morass of what lies underneath .. and there's far more monstrosities .. far bigger chunks of the federal budget that outflow .. than in the mere portions that are national defense ..
How much are those on the dole receiving in comparison to the members of the military? Why the sudden shift in caring? A hundred thousand military men went to fight in an unnecessary war, all while this nation rooted "Support the troops" and it's only when they return dead or dismembered, that we suddenly worry about their welfare? I'm sorry but it's far too late.
Supporting tyrants and regime change is much more important than helping our own people. It's in the interest of national security. Who cares if our soldiers can barely afford to eat so long as the bogeyman is kept away? If the Obama's going on vacation prevents veterans from receiving proper medical care, I doubt the problem lies with Obama sending his kids to some expensive camp or his wife to some godforsaken land with her group of hens. Obama is not vacationing on Betelgeuse, and even if he did I'd be tempted to say that would be money well spent.

I KNOW how well the ones of the DOLE live ..
(PERSONAL Observation .. I know multi-generational Dole Families from where I grew up .. still they do NOTHING at all and rely on the dole)
(and I am well-acquainted with the conditions of our Servicemembers .. who are living on FAR less .. and STILL Being Deployed, raising children .. having to deal with their spouses working too .. and what about the children .. I've BEEN THERE -- DONE THAT .. down through the years)
NOT seeing their families for months (I've done that too) ..
I'm SICK of the ABUSE .. the FRAUD .. the WASTE ..
I'm TIRED of those in 'body politic' ..
who have NEVER SERVED anything except their own bottom lines DICTATING their HATE .. their ABUSE onto those of us who served and believe .. follow .. HONOR our oaths ..
