So I said to him, "Barack, I knew Abe Lincoln, and you ain't no Abe Lincoln!"

**Bessie** 2012/04/02 17:55:30
Obama has made numerous attempts to quote Lincoln SO WHY DOESN'T OBAMA USE THIS FAMOUS LINCOLN QUOTE: You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves. ... Abraham Lincoln presidents

If only we had a current White House occupant who understands the meaning of those great quotes. Then, we'd have leadership, and a real economic recovery, instead of a false recovery, and a POTUS who creates discord, and jumps in front of whatever parade happens to be passing down the street at any given moment.

though lincoln was a great man, he wasn't without an agenda. like using the word freedom to start the civil war. The war was won, the country "united" but the blacks are still waiting for the results.

Abraham Lincoln was a Republican that believed in personal freedom, which flies in the face of Obama's agenda which has is for more government control.

Obama doesn't even know that Lincoln was a REPUBLICAN, or that the KKK was founded by DEMOCRATs, who also passed the JIM CROWE laws, and voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Amendment... Democrats want to keep the ignorant whites and blacks as SLAVES to the government... he THINKS CAPITALISM doesn't work but COMMUNISM does... FOOLS the day after APRIL FOOLS... perfect.

Probably because the quotes you gave are tweaked versions of quotes famous people didn't say but that were put in their mouths.

That and subtexts as to "why" he doesn't use this quote are loaded, full of crap.

I knew that folks didn't quite trust Wikipaedia (I love it, myself!) but I didn't know about Snopes. My elderly cousins are forever sending forwarded emails loaded with "Urban Legend" crap, that they never check out first - and I send them the snopes link. they never respond! They just keep perpuating the garbage!

Sounds to me like you are completely wrong, but if anyone disagrees with you they are automatically "liberal, Koolaid drinkers." I've been reading and relying on snopes.com for years, and have never EVER read something that sounded in any way biased, or not researched. I have also never heard any name-calling or slandering in their web-site, so I'll stick to that fascinating site, rather than the mud-slinging rhetoric I've come to expect at good old SH.
