Since homosexual rights activists insist that homosexuals were "born that way," should homosexuality be classified as a birth defect?

I've always felt homosexuals were born as they are but I wouldn't call it a birth defect. Don't give them more to complain about.

It is not a defect.. Being homosexual is natural. There are over 1500 species with homosexuality in them. Like dogs. (if you have more than one dog, and they are female, and the time comes for them to be in heat...you know what I'm talking about)

I do not accept that someone is born gay, I believe it is learned or defaulted too. Being born gay would suggest they have a role in nature, they do not or same sex could reproduce. Nevertheless, gay people are human and deserve the same treatment as all humans. This does not mean equal rights, as all things are not equal.

it cannot be racist as sexual orientation has nothing to do with race...and the only reason people would see it as a birth defect is because we have been brainwashed to see it as wrong. for me it is quite normal. it's just a bit different in who we love and sleep with.

I do believe that gay's are born to be gay, I mean they can't just one day decide,"You know I don't want to be gay anymore, so now I'm only attracted to the opposite sex." Think about it, all straight people, could you possibly imagine not being attracted to the opposite sex anymore, and only finding people of the same sex attractive? I don't think so!

Maybe if your a man you can't change. But lesbians do change back to heterosexual. I know several of them myself. I don't think a man can go back after having his ass tossed. Maybe the givers but never the takers.

Homosexuality is not a scientifically defined birth defect in the sense that a birth defect diminishes the survivability of an individual.
If we are speaking culturally however, it is most certainly a handicap.

You know I do not believe gays are "made" that way. My person thesis is that they are a statistical anomaly, exhibiting the essential sin nature in a none original fashion.
Additionally, it was not till early to mid 20'th century that we as a people started granting the "government" the position of our new god, thereby granting them permission to dictate to us at the drop of a hat. Till that time, a simple entry in the Family Bible was considered sufficient documentation for births, marriages, and deaths.
It seems now, however, that gov must stick it's nose into our most personal details.
