The Battle Royal begins in Florida. In this corner we have Governor Rick Scott, who wants to purge the Florida Voting Roles of 182,000 SUSPECTED illegal voters.

In this corner we have the United States Federal Government, who says that this is an attempt at voter suppression. The Department of Justice has ORDERED, the state of Florida to stop purging its voter roles in this fashion.

The Justice Department said it will sue Florida in federal court for
violating two federal laws that prevent states from suppressing voters.
The state will be subject to "enforcement action," the agency said in a
curtly worded letter.

Hours earlier, Florida filed a lawsuit of its own against the federal
government. Secretary of State Ken Detzner, who oversees elections, sued
the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, accusing the agency of
denying access to a federal database with information about immigrants.
The lawsuit claims the federal agency forced the state to run afoul of
at least one of the two federal voting laws the Justice Department
accuses it of flouting.
So Whose side are you on: The State of Florida and Rick Scott or the Federal government Department of Justice?

JP 2012/06/12 13:15:15I support Rick Scott in the voter Purge

That one word..
Delusional..
Just curious. Have you ever read the Voting Rights Act?
And yes, I read the Voting Rights Act in paralegal school!
Florida Election Supervisors Continue to Balk At Scott’s Illegal Voter Purge.
Even before the legal battle over Scott’s plan heated up this week, all of Florida’s election supervisors had halted any participation in the purge. Some counties have even already reinstated voters they’d already purged.
Even Republican election supervisors are having none of it. Republican Ann McFall, county supervisor of elections for Volusia County, said that Scott’s lawsuit against the federal government does not have her support and she will not resume purging voters before the elections, regardless of the suit’s outcome:
“No I do not support the lawsuit. It is [about] helping the Governor and Secretary of State improve their image. I am not doing any further voter purge until after Nov 2012.” –– The Progress Report
It looks like this case will end up in the federal courts. With a fast track, it should be resolved before the November election, against the wishes of Governor Scott.
I make nothing up. I have sources to support anything I say. In this case the 1965 Voting Rights Act is my guide.
You probably have evidence that Scott's purge has turned up the names of dead people and illegals. We would be interested in seeing what you have.
I don't know what Scott's purge has shown. I think that is up to the state of FL. But, he must be feeling pretty confident that he has done it right because he is suing the feds.

More importantly, Scott’s scheme seems to have destroyed any momentum that Mitt Romney was gaining in the Sunshine State. Romney has been able to make up one point on Obama since April. The president has gone from a 50%-45% lead to a 50%-46% lead. While Florida registered voters are split on Obama 49%-46%, the still don’t like Romney. The Republican nominee has an upside down 39%/53% approval rating in the state.

The list is heavy with Hispanic names, but it also contains many whose names are similar to those of convicted felons. Not the same as the felons; similar in the smallest ways. Anything to get more Democratic voters off the rolls and deliver the state to the GOP as they did in 2000.
