Should Weiner be forced out?

Moonage June 09, 2011 12:37:59
No, what he did wasn't bad enough. We all know this is all about sex.
Yes, he's been a bad boy and we all know bad behavior is not allowed in DC.
No. It's totally up to the people of his district to decide.
You!

Busted for sexting in a rather lewd way, Anthony Weiner is being crucified all over the airwaves and internet. Now some Democrats are saying he should be removed from office.

If David Vitter can be re-elected and remain a Senator after committing a felony crime of soliciting a prostitute for sex then Weiner should be allowed to have the people of his district determine his fate.

Just a small point of clarification, as if anyone cares. Vitter did what he did several years before he was in office and fully admitted to doing it once it came out. Weiner did what he did while IN office and used the full force of his position to deny it. Some people do see an ethical difference in the actions of the two. Me being one. I still think it's up to the folks of New York to decide and not us tho and that we do agree on.

Just a point of clarification, we really don't know how many times he did this. For some strange reason before she was to go to trial and name names, the DC madame died under mysterious circumstances. I would not take Vitters word on how many times he contacted the Madame considering his hypocrity of running on his family values and passing judgement on others. Weiner did lie but when it comes to a guy coming clean on how many times he cheated on his partner, I wouldn't take Vitter's word to the bank.

I am sure you are correct but it would be very interesting to know how many politicians breath a sigh of relief when the DC Madame was found dead. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

I doubt any cared at all because her records had already been exposed and legal processes had already begun. The damage was already done. Her testimony in itself would not have changed anything because it was all documented. Being a client per se is not a crime ( Just ask Vitter.). She on the otherhand was looking at 50+ years of prison. Pretty much guaranteed a life sentence at her age. So I obviously haven't bought into any conspiracy theories on this one.

I just said it was interesting the timing of her death. Also, you may not know for certain that she didn't have other evidence to present in her case. Although the solicitation of a prostitute is a misdermenor ( I thought it was a felony!) The evidence that his name and number were listed many times in her book could be an indication that he used her services more than once as you suggest.

He admitted to being a regular. The records are not enough to prosecute for soliciting. The bar's a lot higher than simply knowing someone who has a record. The timing is interesting, but as I elaborated, it's not shocking to me because she was very likely facing life in prison. So, to assume facing life in prison that she still had some ace up her sleeve that she was killed to hide just strikes me as being extremely far-fetched.

Makes a good mystery story! Also, Vitter did commit his crime while in office.
This was no long time ago and far away crime. In addition, doesn't his TV confession confirm his guilt. Finally, if you look at the history of Louisiana, you'll find a number of mysterious deaths of Prostitute who were associated with political figures. So her demised may not be as far fatch as you think. I reality I don't believe in this theory but given the history of the state in question, it could be plausible.

Vitter technically didn't commit a crime. He was guilty of hanging out in a bad place. It's kind of obvious what he was doing, sure. But, the law doesn't allow prosecuting a guy for getting laid. That's just not the way it is. What it does is prosecute the cash transaction. I'm going to bet there was never a record of Vitter stating he was paying #### bucks for a checklist of sexual acts. Just call it a hunch.

Her demise is not far fetched. Strung out on drugs, publicly being embarrassed before the entire planet, and facing a life in prison, she took an intentional overdose and ended it.

Now, IF ( that being a conditional clause, ok? ), IF Vitter had not already been outed and her records were still private, THEN if she had died it would have looked a LOT more suspicious because Vitter would have had something to lose. That's why prostitutes die all over the country. It's not unique to Louisiana, not unique to Vitter, and not even unique to heterosexual males ( just ask Barney Frank ).

Vitter admitted to having sex with a prostitute. It was not him just hanging out. You of all people know the solicitation of a prostitute is a crime and yes paying for it is the key!

The bottom line in my arguement is it was not Vitter but the possibilty of other political figures being exposed that could have played a part in her demise.

Myself, I LOVE the idea of the vulgar, socialist punk hanging on as long as he can!!!!

Obama's down with rendition. You sure you want Obama out?

To punish corporations, stop buying their products. You can do that in our free-market system..................oh, wait..............except with ObamaCare..............

I can actually agree with you that LOOPHOLES & SUBSIDIES to the rich & corporations should be shut down (is THAT "going after" them?).

But that's not enough money to make a dent in the deficit. It's just a side issue.
  • Fannie Pat June 09, 2011 14:17:17

Well we can certainly have "investigations" and begin to look to forcing some changes.
  • Pat Fannie June 09, 2011 15:10:59 (edited)
    Pat
Obama's DOJ has been investigating "torture". It's making the CIA shy to question terrorist suspects.

Obviously, he won't condemn his own rendition for torture, you think?

Tax law changes are floating around & will be proposed by Tea Party, conservative GOP in the House.

Doesn't that mean you will AUTOMATICALLY oppose them?

It's not just about him, it's hurting his party and they know it, that's why some are saying he should step down. We all know, even if some won't admit it, that if Weiner were a Republican the howls from the Left for his resignation would be heard from Boston to Seattle. Not only that, but he probably would be gone by now!

Mob mentality is loads of fun, but it really needs to be kept in check almost every single time and is exactly why the Electoral College was created.
