and then there's the congressman who's screaming to repeal it. of course, his 24-year-old daughter is currently covered under HIS health insurance. I wonder how she feels about the fact that he's ready to throw her under the bus so that he can give Obama a black eye.

The Insurance companies don't like too many competition because that will limit them from jacking up their prices. And Health care reform for that will be a threat to them. And Republicans want to repeal it, because as usual, they always want to protect the wealthy pocket book, while empty the little man two penny.

Hi nothing, just to elevate your points the issue is much wider, Under Reagan, the insurance cos were deregulated and allowed to make risky investments with pensions, real estate and pooled insurance proceeds. As a result they diminished their abilities to financially cover their guarantees (policies). When prop vals went down and negative they were burdened with some of the largest non-bank loans in the nation via real estate and other vehicles, ironically, not insurance related. They still have the ability to set and increase their rates which are in part influenced by their losses. Not the case in the other countries because its quasi-national there. All this talk we are hearing about tort-law reform is premised on them. They say these judgements are to high and rediculous and need to be capped. Bull, The average settlement in such cases is $200,000 and usually the result of victims wearing down from years of litigating delays and hardships. A judge once told me when I inquired about a multi-million dollar settlement I was curious because I filed an anti-trust suit against Mobil oil regarding the purchase option i had with them on a property. The judge said that the judgement should be large enough to get their attention and serve to prevent such an inequty happens again. This makes sense to me, and they should be forced to litigate if there is truly no claim in a more expiditious way. Regards, sorry for the babble.

You don't even know if the picture is of a liberal person. Now, I know that I am splitting hairs here as much as your response was--but come on now. Why do you need to grasp on to whatever you can to attack a comment? Try sticking to the substance of an argument for once.

The reply I was responding to was an attack. Why not lecture the other person about his rudeness and evasion of the subject if you're going to be the etiquette police around here?

You're unwittingly describing your own behavior.
I've made the debate point that the Democrats using the power of the government are responsible for the financial crisis. But you just avoid addressing it every time and resort to trash talk and personal attacks. All you're doing is trying to compensate for your ignorance like a mouthy kid on the school playground.

One wonders if Americans consider the medical profession worth getting into anymore under Obamacare. We'll probably need more Pakistani doctors.

We 'should' all eat healthy and we 'should' all exercise daily - we don't. And when the uninsured get sick, they get care and YOU and I pay for it through inflated healthcare plan costs thatr we pay because of our employers or more rarely because we're responsible. The curious reality of the Obama plan is it essentially taxes the poor to pay for the health plan that they were previously not buying...which is good but not appreciated.

If the plan hasn't even started yet, then how do you figure that the changes in your insurance premiums are due to said plan?

This answer does not in any way explain how Obama care is causing the insurance premiums to go up.
    Try again.
