Should we lock up the children of criminals?

President Obama recently signed an executive order allowing people brought here illegally as children to remain here and be able to work, rather than be deported back to a country they may not even remember. The rationale behind this was that we were already granting such relief on a case by case basis because it was the right thing to do, so we might as well just announce we are doing it for all of them who have become educated and ho have not committed crimes.
This decision has been criticized by his political opponents, who have renewed calls to deport everybody we can. But for many of those who came here as children, this is the only country they know. And the only reason they are here is that their parents brought them with the parents, when the parents came here in search of a better life for their families. These children have done nothing wrong.
To punish them y deporting them to a country they do not know, where thay may no longer even have any family that they know, is the moral equivalent of locking up the children of criminals because their parent committed a crime. Would it be morally right to do that?

I don't even think of the parents as criminals. They came here in desperate need of a better life for themselves. And to send these children back to a country they don't know anything about and have never set foot on is terrible. That they got here illegally is so much a smaller issue then the human issue of survival and a good life. Aren't they considered American Citizens just based on the fact they were born here? And those that came so young, didn't choose to do so illegally. We should not punish them.

They should return home and re-make their countries into something better.

but we should still deport them. It's NOT the same. The other option is let them stay in orphanages and get adopted by American families and just deport the parents. The days of the anchor baby are over!

Why do you feel you are more deserving to remain here that they? You are here because of luck that you had nothing to do with. You didn't even make the effort to get here. Through pure luck, you were born here. That is all.

Your right, I was born here. My parents were born here. My grandparents were born here. My great grandparents immigrated LEGALLY from the old country, got jobs, worked hard, and voted. They did what was needed to remain here legally so the future generations of our family could live here.

Uh, I'm sure he feels he's a right to be here, because he probably pays taxes, probably an American citizen, either through being born here, or going through the LEGAL channels of becoming a citizen. It's a nice thought, opening our borders and welcoming everyone without pause, but the REALITY is...WE CANNOT AFFORD IT. We're spent. Would you like to house and feed the millions of illegal aliens entering this country? Where do you think the money is going to come from, where are the resources going to come from??

"Why do you feel you are more deserving to remain here that they?"

WHY? Because they did it LEGALLY.

I think being raised in America makes them just as American as anyone who was born to legal citizens.

Unfortunately their parents are here illegally, so we have a choice, deport the criminals back to their country with their children, or we keep their children here...in orphanages, which would be taking a child away from their parent, which I think would be criminal in itself. Tough decision, but the only choice is to send them back home with their parents. Our money and resources are being tapped out. We can't afford to open our borders the way you'd like us to.

Umm, it's for working, educated children of illegal immigrants... if their parents are deported, I'm sure they won't be in an orphanage, since you have to be a certain age to be considered educated and working.

Doesn't matter one way or the other. Non-citizens are taking jobs away from LEGAL citizens. LEGAL citizens should be considered FIRST. There are LEGAL citizens looking for work and having a very hard time getting work, due to the employment issues our country is facing now. This only adds to the problem and serves as a magnet for future border breakers. Every so often an administration grants amnesty or something to that effect. Illegal Immigrants know this. The mentality is come to the country, get free food and welfare, send our kids to college at the taxpayers expense and eventually we'll all be granted amnesty anyway, so just bide our time til that happens. This is part of what is wrong with our economy. We can't afford this anymore. It's elementary, it's simple and doesn't take a genius to figure this out.

I know that no one looks like a good guy, saying that the children of illegals should be deported, but, quite frankly, TOUGH TITTIES. Illegals and their spawn are a drag on our resources. They vote illegally. They cheat the welfare system. They attract crime and bring down property values. They make employers afraid to hire. Need I go on?

They do not vote illegally. They do not vote at all. They would not want to call attention to themselves. Being able to stay here is much more important. If you can provide me with a link to the contrary, I would be happy to read it.
Some illegals may do welfare fraud, just like US citizens do. But they came here to work, and they do work very hard for the small amount they are paid, And many pay into Social Security but will never collect, so they subsidize the rest of us.
Employers will here anytime they need more employees. nd there are government databases available for them to check all job applicants. Illegals do not make employers afraid to hire.

YOu know there are American citizens that are young and in need of work. I say we give the citizens first dibs on the job market and stop rewarding illegal entry into this country. I have a newly graduated daughter that can't even get a job at the local convenient store. Work is slim pickings. We don't have enough resources or money to open our borders like this.

As children, we have no control over when our parents take us. IMO it is cruel to tear a child away from their school, friends, neighborhood, and ship them to a country which is foreign to them - with no source of income and perhaps not even knowledge of the language.

No, I don't think they should be locked up, and no matter what he does, his opponents will always bemoan President Obama.
