Yes they should come home, but in a safe time and manner. Not just a ploy to get Obama reelected. He was going to have them home in 16 months, here it is 30 months and he's just now talking about it. Me thinks he is using our men to his own advantage.

Yes I'm glad they are supposedly coming back from an occupation we never should have gotten involved in. My concern lies in the fact that a lot of times when we withdraw troops, we replace them with private contractors, and the privatization of the war machine only continues more efficiently.

As Senator Graham said we need to leave in a way that ensures we won't have to go back there again in the near future.

That's true, I think we accomplished our goal, we killed Osama. That was a goal I don't think George Bush ever expected us to accomplish, but nevertheless we did it.

The threat of terror will always be there, but we must keep the threat in realistic view, you are more likely to be killed by lightening than to be killed by a terrorist. The perceived threat of terror is extremely overexhaggerated than the actual threat.

we can not financially justify staying in a country with people who won't help themselves. Freedom is never truly cherished by those who have not fully earned it on their own.

Even if they asked for our help, we still can't justify fighting a war we have no money to pay it with. We have already squandered the money of our great grandchildren away on a useless wars.

In the case of Afghanistan they don't want to change, the occupation from USSR should have proved that to us. Why have have we not learned from past mistakes?

When humans have forgotten their past, we are doomed to repeat histories mistakes.

Whether we like it or not it is impossible to win war on terrorism as long as men with disagreements will not solve their differences in a civil manor and a willingness to accommodate one another. You can not change other people, we can only change ourselves.

The Libs vilified President Bush because he did not bring our troops home. Obama assured America that HE would end the war and bring the U.S. Troops home. Of course, it didn't happen but the Liberals continue to blame Bush for this and for the mess our country is in! According to them, Obama has done no wrong and Bush is responsible for weakening America while, in fact, Obie is destroying the U.S. one day at a time! Now that his term is coming to an end (NOT soon enough!), he is once again saying that our troops should return home ASAP. This talk is merely a campaign ploy in his quest to be re-elected - God forbid! This insanity must stop! asap talk campaign ploy quest re-elected god forbid insanity Obama funny

I think both Bush and Obama played their parts in destabilizing our country... I think we need to make comprises and meet in the middle to make our country better financially... one of the biggest sources of wasteful spending is cannabis prohibition, but republicans for whatever reason like the Government preventing people to have freedom to use something safer than aspirin, it is costing us billions a year. And liberals want to spend to much on social programs... the answer is to just reduce government spending and promote freedom... enormous wastes are involved in trying to control people and restrict freedoms. The prison industry is a booming industry since the feds imprison everyone they can, even if those crimes were petty non-violent offenses.

So they knew that their fellow citizens would work hard to disenfranchise them. just because they are in the military?

exactly, but its too late to change strategy, we should have gone in, salted the earth and glassed that place like the romans would. you can't half ass a war.

Actually, I would have preferred a third choice. What we are doing now isn't working, but on the other hand, if we allow things to go back to be way they were in 2001, I believe we will have another terrorist attack, more dead Americans, and we'll end up re-invading. My choice would be to go to a counter-terrorism strategy, and pull out about 80,000 of the current 100,000 troops. I don't see any option though, if we are going to take our security seriously, than keeping the remaining 20,000 over their more or less indefinitely. This is necessary to maintain leverage not just with Afghanistan, but also with Pakistan.

I agree that Troops should safely return home from the Conflict. I do NOT agree that their departure dates (and time) and/or their arrival dates back to the USA, should be advertised over the television airwaves; as if to politicize their every move that they make . . . Why would someone want to do that? It is stupid.
