Should United Nations International LAW trump the United States Constitution??!!

No it should not. That being said, we need to honor our treaties with other countries. Alot of people still believe president Carter gave panama Canal away. The fact is there was a treaty for X amount of years, then we agreed to return it to Panama. He honored that treaty. Same thing here. If our leaders in the past agreed to treaties, we should follow that or be deemed a liar nation and not to be trusted, which puts us in the same league as our enemies.

This is a bit complicated, so bear with me. I was tempted to check the obvious "NO" answer, but thinking it through, more than just "NO" is required. This is not because I think the US should ever allow itself to be drawn into an undeclared war due to a UN resolution or a NATO request. The answer to that is clearly "NO," and people like Panetta, not to mention Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc. know this. They look for outside, that is, non-Constitutional "legal" authority, to attack other countries because they fear that Congress will not give them the authorization, or because the executive branch wishes to maintain a "right" that it does not have (going to war without Congressional declaration of war), a "right" which it has arrogated to itself over the course of many administrations. The "international law" canard is a fig leaf the executive branch uses when it wishes to attack other countries without bothering with Constitutional niceties, especially where there is no public support for such actions.

The place where the website goes off the rails is in thinking that such actions mean the US is therefore submitting to "international entities." It most certainly does not mean that, nor could it. It simply means using such things as a quasi-"legal" basis for doing an end run around Congress and the American people.

UN Law doesn't conflict with US Constitutional Law so it is not an issue. I do not know why people think it does.

He's correct, some of our soldiers have served under the UN, the latest being in Kosovo so this guy and you people can spin it anyway you'd like... Where exactly did they say international law trumps the Constitution or is that just your spin on what was said?

In effect, when they cite "international law" or "UN resolutions" as an excuse for intervening in places like Libya, and don't even bother to ask for Congressional approval, they are acting as if "international" "law" trumps the Constitution. Or did Congress declare war on Libya? Of course, this is just the Imperial Presidency using "international entities" and the like as a cover for their own illegal and despicable actions, not submitting to international "law," as this silly website (frontporchpolitics) seems to believe. In doing so, they are violating the US Constitiution.
