Train for what job? Where? Privatized prisons are filling jobs w/ people arrested for petty, victimless crimes; robots are replacing factory and farm workers; the Govt. PAYS to have American factories moved to China. How many Walmart's can you have, and they're all subsidized to death anyway.

Yes, going back to school of any kind is good for I was laid off Jan 23rd 2009 I collected unemployment up until mine ran out, now this you and I paid into out of our wages,, now when they offer and extented the benefit we didn't pay into that this is everybody taxs pays fore. Therefor if you can't work in your field go back to school and train for a different field, just like the military if you couldn't get promoted in your field you cross-trained into another one to advance.

Now unemployment is not "WELFARE" WELFARE is Food Stamps, Free Medical, Free Rent Elect or assitance to pay for these programs are paid for by your's and my tax dollars, now keep in mind that "50%" of citizens pay know taxs at all.
Now theres to many young people get on this and stay on it all there lives and do nothing else, young women have more babys they get more government assitance. The government even pays for day care for there childern for to do something to get off.
I believe that everyone on state and federal assitance "SHOULD BE DRUG TESTED FOR ALL TYPE OF DRUGS" AND IF YOU ONE TIME TEST POSTIVE FOR ANY DRUG THAT A DOCTOR DIDN'T GIVE YOU YOUR ASSITANCE TOTALY ENDS, PERIOD. THIS SHOULD BE STATE AND FEDERAL REQUIRMENT.

I've seen that percentage of people on these programs that totaly abuse the system totaly, those people should be caught fined and removed for ever.

Don't get me wrong there are people young and old that need assitance they should be the ones getting it. If you need assitance get it then get off don't make it your life.

Now as of today you have the White House on the news telling people we want you to apply for FOOD STAMPS, there's not enough people on the program, WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT,,OUR LEADER AT WORK.

It's not free they take it out of your paycheck every week, unemployment, workers comp, medicare, medicaid, union dues, They are Insurnace programs...
in theory your income tax pays for none of these programs

They can do things for the states to help cut the budgets, the welfare rolls are killing it. Like here in AZ, state pays about 44% and Feds pay 56% and if they are having to pay the healthy ones that just can't find a job or really don't want to work the state should be able to find non-skilled work that they can do for the state or the feds also. Coupled with trying to find work for them to get off Welfare. If they are willing to take work where they can get on job training for a special job, they should be able to get the welfare on a declining scale till they get the skills needed to be hired. Some of those workers could work in state run daycare centers to care for the kids of the welfare people that are working. Some could be drivers to get the workers and the children to where they need to be.

some people are unemployed becasu therer is no work
or they have a disability so they cant work
and even if niether of those are the case their might not be a location in which to work or get trainedand if they cant work or get trained then they have no ource of income and they die from starvation

Actually they had paid tax money for their uneployment benefits thus are entitiled to them.It is a safety net until one finds a job.Not everyone wants to be trained for another occupation,and possibly the profession they could be trained for would be less than they are now qualified to do.Welfare is what one receives if a person cannot find a job within the period of bieng on unemployment.

There are people on welfare that do not work have not worked & not looking to work,families with children not married ,deadbeat dads,leave one to make more very sad but to keep taking care of them they will never take care of their selves,also some even try to sell their food stamps.

Frick yeah! I hate that people who are totally able to work for themselves take advantage of the system. However, if they're unable to work, so be it, it's not fair to those unable to work to force them to work, and it's definitely not fair to the taxpayer to have people steal from us, just so they can do whatever they want. And believe me, there are people who do do that. And as a counter note, the gov is partly to blame for all the welfare in the first place: They allowed all those jobs to be shipped overseas. And as a counter-counter note, many people who live on welfare don't care enough to get a job in the first place. Not all, but many.

Very true,at 1 time Calif. had pratically no welfare Ronald R was govenor At the time,if someone was getting a check ,the[ closet patrol] they were called ,would knock at your door,if you were a single woman with kids they would go straight to the closet if there were ant mens clothes there no check, almost completely stopped welfare there, it was thought he would do the same once president but I do not believe it was even addressed.
