And how are we different from every other nation, Christian or not? Aren't all nations under God and if so isn't it a bit redundant or perhaps arrogant to say it?
Considering that it was added as a knee jerk reaction to communism and the fact that the old Soviet Union had some of the most dedicated Christians, yes I think it is a big deal. It is basically ignoring all other people who believe in God. A bit arrogant.
You do realize that the words were added during the fifties during the red scare to differentiate God Fearing Americans from the pinko Commies? I hope you realize that the Christians who were in the Soviet Union were more dedicated Christians as they could be prosecuted for their beliefs. So when you say the pledge which implies it is only America under God, you are doing a disservice to Christians around the world. Fact is all nations are under God, free and unfree. How could it be otherwise?
It was only put in as a political stunt anyway, and relatively recently. I do not believe this nation is under any god, but I do believe in being loyal to your country and protecting it from harm, from within and from without.
I think it would be good to see school children during the forties reciting the pledge. They used the Nazi salute and if you have the sound off you couldn't tell the difference from little Nazis. Makes one proud. lol
Yes ...hell yes. If any thing they should have put under Satan since rebelled against God for his beliefs and that is exactly what 13 original colonies did to great Britain.
It's good do have the right to believe or not to believe. But belief does not mean loyalty to the nation. That simple. A nation must not implement neither state religion nor state atheism.
It sholld read like this........ ( WE THE PEOPLE )
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the republic for which it stands,
one nation of ""We The People"", indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Yes, certainly, we should remove "under God" from the pledge. A bunch of extremists put those 2 words in during the dark days of the 1950's. The United States of America has no national religion. Belief in a particular religion is not required to be an American Citizen.
??? It is a fact that under God was put into the pledge as a counter to evil godless communism. Everyone knows that. Ever heard of the Jehovah's witnesses? I believe they won a court case to not have to say it. I think they believe saying it was against the 10 commandments.
Hardly hundreds, how about 1.2 centuries ago? I don't recite it as I tend to agree with the Jehovah witnesses that it is breaking the 10 commandments, It was also written by a socialist, and finally it makes little sense. Sorry Red but my loyalty is to the constitution not to a symbol.
Our forefathers based our country on a lot of religious beliefs. You can't have "all men created equal" without God because then where is the "created" coming from. And what about "certain inalienable rights endowed to us by our Creator"??? Who do you think our creator is? Your mother? No. She doesnt give you your rights, nor does she entitle you to them. God does, for he is the Creator.
So many nonbelievers (some believers too) throw a fit about their rights and how they have the right to do this and do that and blah blah blah. But you know what? You wouldnt have those rights without God because HE created us equal. You want to throw a fit about your rights and you want to be entitled to your rights? Then believe because if you don't then how can you believe we were all CREATED equal?
HELL NO AND HELL NO!! This is what the atheist, and Dem-O-rats what for sure !! This is why our country is going down hill so fast...all they want is to take God out of everything...why would God want to bless America if the Lord is NOT honored at all!! It is so damm nuts ...when i was a child we said the pledge with everyone in the class saying it and it was NO big deal then !! But Now hell you have the damm ACLU saying their CRAP or the LIBS and DEM-O-RATS WHO ARE ALL IN MY BOOK 100% COMMIES!!...." I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. " And it should STAY THAT WAY ...with GOD WE KNOW OBAMA DOES NOT DO IT!!
It's not our fault you were punished. And that was back then we're talking about now. Just look at all the changes in this world within the last decade.
Hmmmm....i was NOT punished back then for doing that ...those were the GOOD OLD DAYS . The point is what we did back then we NEED BACK NOW!! Yeah some changes we have now..... all for the WORSE!
If you check out his profile you'll find that "DRIVEL" is ALL he has to offer!!! It has become rather obvious that he mistakenly posted his IQ (14) on his profile in place of his age!!!
Those that take offense by "under God" being in the Pledge of Allegiance DESPERATELY need to get a life!!!
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the republic for which it stands,
one nation of ""We The People"", indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
E pluribus unum! And proud of it!
Have a nice day !
