There have been arguments both for and against nationalized healthcare in the U.S. based on comparisons to the British National Health System. Wednesday’s announcement could be the worst “con” to come out of NHS since the eight-day waiting period for an ambulance.
After a number of complaints from patients, East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust nurses must adhere to a strict new uniform policy in the hospital that instructs disciplinary action if they are caught wearing clothes which expose their ''midriff'' or “excessive cleavage,” reports the Telegraph.
The guidelines, agreed to in March, also prevent the 5,000 staff (including doctors) from wearing shorts, mini-skirts, denim or leggings while attending to patients.
The policy goes on to say NO! BAD! to “the wearing of hair ribbons, combs and sharp decorative slides and orders beards and moustaches to be clean and neatly trimmed.”
Further, if staff have tattoos, they must be covered. And for godsake no long fake designer nails; all fingernails must be clean and cut short.
While the guidelines were the effect of a series of complaints, as previously mentioned, The Sun did a little digging and found their own set of data that included Martin Stefansson, 39, who was visiting his mother in an NHS hospital and said: “They should be allowed to wear what they want. Low tops won't stop them doing their jobs. If they want to undo a few more buttons that's fine.”
You may fall in love with one of those sexy looking nurses. Usually she is good to you, usually you are too ill to make logical decisions. If the illness is not at least somewhat serious nobody goes to hospital really. But after you leave hospital she rejects your company so if you are a sensitive person you may be in for your next two-three months in another hospital as a result of that ! So what do they mean by that ?
I wouldn't trust somebody that looks like she could use a few extra dollars and wants to get it by prostitution to take care of me while I am sick.Especially with long nails...
I think tattoos are okay as long as they aren't patriotic, religious or in any way offensive.
And if the guy wanted to get turned on every time he walks in the hospital, well, he shouldn't.. And he should go to a strip club, where the strippers dress like nurses.
I've had 3 heart attacks already in my life, but only had the first one checked out. My ex used to worry about me. I would have been A LOT more willing to go get checked out if there were more cleavage going to be there.
And whoever says sexiness couldn't cure, would be wrong. :grin
damat i mean no. after being stuck in surgery after surgery before i enlist i would prefer seeing some cleavage before I go under. Great last memory XD
Hmmm, where in the UK do you wait 8 days for an ambulance????
My daughter is a nurse and when she isn't in scrubs she is required to wear a uniform. Not sure where they get he idea that too much is on show, either cleavage or midriff as there is nothing revealing about a nurses tunic.
Who works in a mini-skirt other than a stripper/prostitute? Really, people, you're professionals, dress like it. Same goes for the exposed midriffs: you're not at the beach, you're at work.
Now, the no nail-polish thing is a bit silly. I understand no fake nails (those could fall off/break, and that's just gross, especially when you're working in what's supposed to be a hygienic place). Covering tattoos... also seems a bit silly, but whatever, a lot of places ask that.

fingernails MUST go, for sure.

Plus, how many women have male OBs compared to how many men have a female doctor for anything? :-)
