Should Todd Akin abandon the race over his comments that women's bodies can prevent pregnancies in cases of legitimate rape?

bob 2012/08/21 15:36:47
Todd Akin and Paul Ryan did co-author a bill to redefine rape and dictate to women what is and isn’t rape
Todd Akin believes in legitimate rape? This is what the people of Missouri nominated
Todd Akin should abandon the race
Todd Akin should not abandon the race
Republican Todd Akin defines the current Republican Party. Republicans Rape is never legitimate. It's an evil act
Mitt Romney did not have the strength of leadership to tell Todd Akin to abandon the race, so Mittens must secretly agree with Todd Akin and Paul Ryan concerning the redefinition of rape

This goes along with old age thinking that there is no such thing as rape. Even boys and men can be raped and it is just as vile. Rape is an act of violence and nothing more. For this man to say this and have the position he holds is awful! Sure there are others who have misspoken especially about science, but this is too far off, to be believed by anyone who had 9th grade health classes.

If every politician had to abandon a political race or their current position for saying something absurd and wrong, there'd be no politicians left.

A total idiot. Another religiously driven nut that knows nothing about women, women's health, or even common sense. His lack of understanding the power of his speech is what makes him dangerous and a bad politician. Politics is the spoken word and you have to live by what you say. He shows no mastering of this skill and his policies are from the dark ages.

Yes, Aikin needs to get out of the race. He is threatening the Romney campaign, and THAT could well put Obama back in the White House. That would be a tragedy.

What a jerk! He should drop out. Romney told him to drop out. I am against abortion except in case of rape or incest or threat to the mother's health. What was he thinking. This is precisely the kind of thing that causes people like Bob to brand Conservatives as "crackpots". Be sure brain is in gear before engaging mouth!! Bob, you are right on this one. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut (pun intended) now and then. fch

Don't forget Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, majority ultra Conservative Republicans all have same idiotic beliefs. Mitt Romney does not know if he is coming or going. Romney would be a very weak leader. Mitt Romney is owned by the LDS.

What's truly sad about Mitt...is the fact that he has flip flopped on several issues. Inconsistency is not a good thing....

I have problems with the waffling, Ryan's a whack job....and Romney decided to "balance the budget on the backs of disabled Veterans and the retired".

Well, Fredrick, I'm not sure why a baby should be eliminated because of the way he/she was conceived. The conception of babies, isn't their peroggative....however it is spelled...the babies don't get a choice as to their conception, whether the sex is consensual or not.

Evan....the use of abortion as a tool for "birth control"...as a norm is atrocious.... However, it is not up to MEN to decide what a woman does with her body. It is more than a bit presumptuous of men to dictate to a woman what she can or cannot do, especially in the case of rape.

I am very conservative, and was raised a Catholic....and I will tell you outright, were my wife raped and impregnated by a rapist....I would be extremely hard pressed to accept the child, or even allow the pregnancy to go forward. But the ultimate decision would be my wife's.

Remember, for all the religious and moral caterwalling....is it not true that each and every individual will be judged by God....?? That being the case, aren't we as people telling women what they can and cannot do...playing God?
