But biting the hand that feeds you is stupid. Stop the flow of money until their country is able to prove they can police the situation better.

I feel as though i'm diving into a shark pit by saying this, but I don't think we should cut off aid to Libya. The only reason that this issue came about was because a bunch of lunatics (who might not have even been regular Libyan citizens; possibly a planned attack by al- Qa'ida) decided to attack the embassy. Should we punish the whole country, of which we have been trying to support a system of democracy in, because of a small group of people and let the government go to ruin? It just doesn't seem to make sense.

Wow, very nice. Do you feel happy inside now, making an offensive and inappropriate comment to a 17 year old? I hope so. I am actually conservative on most topics, but I just think that the money already put into Libya shouldn't be wasted. This is, after all, a place to voice opinions.

Well sorry I didn't see the sign indicating age, as far as the money goes the second they get their hands on it is being used to by weapons to kill Americans with and Finally I understand this is an opinion site and I stated mine, if your going to get on here get your big boy pants on, when I was 17 I was in bootcamp about to go to 'Nam.

If I understand what you're talking about, you're commenting on the line "I just think that the money already put into Libya shouldn't be wasted." From that I meant that if we cut off aid to Libya now, all of the money already put in helping Libya obtain democracy could be wasted if the government spirals downward. I'm sorry that I phrased that oddly.

Well first of all we all need to get past the notion that whats going on in Libya or Egypt or Syria is any kind of Democracy movement, it is not. it's a take over by the Muslim Brotherhood that when it gains total control will be just like Iran, so that is why we shouldn't be hurling MY tax dollars at a group of people who want to destroy this country. Talk about the dog biting the hand that feeds it.
  • Cornchip30 Brian 2012/09/19 01:38:00

Well said. When you put it like that it does seem like we're focusing too much on other people and not enough on our current recession. I've been thinking about it a lot and, looking at what everyone else has been saying, we do need to get our own economy straight before we go giving to somebody else.
    Thank you for your views.

There is a saying that says "Don't complain about the speck in your brothers eye when you have a board in your own" in other words lets stop trying to make every other country a democracy and deal with them as conditions require and work on making this county the very best it can be. And guess what the other countries will want to mimic our sucess. Lead by example not by a carrot (bribing with money)
  • Brian Stratwe... 2012/09/18 23:45:06

Well buttercup, the question asks should we REDUCE funding, implying that money is already being sent. which is in fact what IS happening we have been sending money even before all this Arab Spring crap began.

Actually I don't want that kind of conversation, and I appoligize for coming off too strong, and you are completly right about the difference between being a candy-ass and being respectiful. it's just that I don't think people are understanding what is happening here and around the world, what is at stake, The very future of this country as free society is at stake here. Our President said that he wants to fundamentally change America. What he is saying is he wants to change/eliminate the foundations this country was built on ie the Constitution.

If you read one of my comments above (though it is sort of a jumbled mess) you'll see that a couple days after I posted my first comment, I changed my position and said that we should reduce aid to Libya. When I posted my original comment, I was thinking more of the country as a whole, rather than the few who decided to make hell. After the attack, citizens of Libya came out with signs into the streets begging the US not to punish Libya as a whole because of a couple of terrorists, so it seemed like they were behind us, that's why I posted my original statement. Thank you for posting the link to the article. I had not seen that bit of information before.

Will the "good" Libyans round up and hand over the bad Libyans? If they do, fine, keep helping them.

But, if they all behave like a bunch of monkeys, then treat them all like a bunch of monkeys.

I didn't see any reports of "good" Libyans trying to help or rescue the four Americans killed. I've not even heard of names of "bad" Libyans given over.

I appreciate your point here but I really don't see any action on their part deserving the help.

And to all the other Country's that we been giving money to. Let's get our Country back and stop giving money to Country's that use our money to by weapons to kill our people. We have been giving money forever and we need it right here more then ever before. Things need to change quick because we will be attacked with this obama who never should have been put in the white House and should have been thrown out long ago on anyone of the accounts that he did.
