Most Democrats are not Progressives. Also, Democrats seek to appeal to the Middle, not just the Left. That second reason is why the Republican Party doesn't change it's name to the Conservative Party.

As long as the Republicans agree to change their name to the Conservative Party. Although why not be true to both their natures and they can change their names to the "Crazy Ass Socialist Party" and the "Tight Ass Nationalist Party".

I don't really care. There's no Republican Party either.

But if the Dems became the Progressive Party and the Republicans became the Conservative Party, maybe all those of us who are neither could join a new 3rd party that would get things done and leave the lunatics where they belong -- on the fringe.

They should either change it to "The Progressive Party" or "The Communist Party." The word "democrat" implies a belief in democracy. That's not what the democrat party stands for.
