Some compromise is now and will be after the presidential election, regardless of the victor, necessary to overrule self-righteous ideology with the pragmatism that we need. Better sooner than later, in my view.

I believe obie is president and when he is out of office and Romney is president then things will turn around. obama is the one who promised change and we did get change for the worse

So far any bill that's been PASSED through congress (I emphasize pass because it got majority vote) has been filibustered by the Republicans. Take the Women's equal pay law, for example. That got passed yesterday 52-47. Republicans called out a "war of free enterprise" and blocked it. They've used the filibuster more times than any of the other Congresses COMBINED.

Republicans called the Senate proposal a political ploy that would benefit trial lawyers while doing little, if anything, to advance equal pay.

"This is just a political exercise," Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R., Utah) said. "It's offensive. Over and over, that's all we're doing this year, things that might protect Democrats."

The bill, sponsored by Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski (D., Md.), would increase potential damages to plaintiffs in pay-discrimination suits and increase the legal burden on employers to show that pay disparities aren't gender-based. It would create a grant program to train women on how to negotiate with employers on their pay.

One of the problems we have in this country is people have forgotten what the Red, White & Blue stand for, so heck no they shouldn't put it down. They need to put it out front and in the face of everybody. We need to remind everybody what it took for this country to become great. It wasn't by the creation of a "Nanny" state. People became successful or failed based on their effort and good or bad decisions. If you're successful great. If not, pick yourself up, work harder and make better decisions. Don't go to school and get a philosophy degree and then cry because there are no jobs for philosophers. Everybody has the OPPORTUNITY to be successful. It's not a right and everybody else isn't responsible for your bad choices and unwillingness to work hard to get there.
