Should Teachers Having Sex With 18-Year-Old Students Be Illegal Everywhere?

It should be legal but it shouldn't be allowed on the school's campus.

Current student? Yes. Graduated? No.

I think that people should have the right to do what they want 18 or not

Teachers should not be having sex with their students at all, no matter what age. They can marry to a student of 18-year-old at least, but merely to have sex at this young age, not appropriate.

I misread the question, I should have said no. If they're 18 then they're both adults.

I say yes because of the relationship already set in place by being the student's teacher. Even though they are both legal adults, that position of power creates an ethics conflict. If they are both that interested in this kind of relationship, they can wait until the student graduates.

18 is the age of adulthood...well in Canada. So i don't believe that would make sense

As long as that teacher/student relationship exists, then the two can not be in bed together. Once he/she graduates though, all's fair.

Nothing wrong with sex between two consenting adults however the special relationship between student and teacher makes it a bit seedy for a teacher to do.

Wow you cant send your kid to school to learn because the TEACHER got his or her EYES on you, cant trust the chruches because they are after little boys. Both people are beyond the age of majority, and thus they are not committing a crime.

Their employers can certainly implement such a statute, if they so choose. However, that would be no more than a violation of a civil contract, and thus it should result in whatever disciplinary act the contract entails, not criminal prosecution.

It's not the job "title" at issue here. it's the "position of authority" and its ethics.

Why Student-Teacher Relationships Are Never OK
Allow me to state this explicitly: teachers who are unable to set boundaries with students have no place in the classroom. I don't care if he or she never touched, or even intended to touch a student. I don't care if she was asking for it. I don't care if he initiated it. The teacher has the responsibility as a figure of authority to end it before it begins, and to never propagate it.

Once the "of age" student has graduated then the teacher is released from all ethical obligations and can do what they want.
Besides, just to avoid legal and job security situations, it is better for the teacher to abstain. Why lose a career and do jail time for a good time. All good things come to those that wait.

Finally, someone posting on here with some sense, ethics, and responsibility toward students and their well-being. I had read some of these very strange postings and was disgusted, until I happened upon yours. :--)

I need to not be quite as judgmental, I suppose. Sadly, it's not the fault of some of them that their natural curiosity and love of learning is squelched in public schools, I think. Thanks in part to violent TV, movies, and video games, morals have deteriorated. But some are just plain uncaring, mean, and disrespect people in general. Many adults and children, though, still have good critical thinking skills and are good, caring people.

I recently learned that children as young as 14 can be on SH. However, I was still stunned just to read just a few of these posts. :--)

Yes it do......there was a PASTOR having sex with a 18 girl from the chruch...I no she didnt start off going to chruch to get with this OLDERRRRRRRRRRRR man and he giving her drugs .. so title yes he was a PASTOR and he or she is a TEACHER

did you read what you wrote about the being old enought to fight in the war. having sex with kids that are still in school. they can fight in the war at 18 but cant get in the club until 21. pre-adults.
