    Of course they should!
And for any who think gay marriage "threatens the institution of marriage," what are you doing to try to get the law changed so that divorce is illegal? Divorce is the threat to marriage, not more marriages between people who love each other!

The Constitution never defined marriage but it does specify everyone is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Yes yes a million times yes nation wide polls show most americans now in 2012 do support sam sex marriage. BUT!!! in my views that church and state should and need to remain separate to help keep alive freedom of religion, just because same sex marriage is legal churches should not and cannot be forced to marry a gay couple. If a church chooses to well thats all okay but everyone of age gay or straight should be able to recieve a common law marriage in their corresponding states, our nation values itself on equality and that means legal equality for all couples gay or straight. Thank you very much.

Agreed. Marriage equality SHOULD be legal but Churches should be allowed to refuse to marry them. Besides there are a lot of LGBTQ friendly Churches who'd do it. And common law marriage should be perfectly legal.

I agree one million percent in this cae churches can keep their definition of a " holy union" and the rest of us are all gay or straight entitled to a common law marriage.

They should rule enforcing the separation of church and state and leave marriage as a religious ceremony and make civil partnerships the joining of two adults in the eyes of the law and the tax man.

Whomever the church or mosque or temple or whatever wants to marry. Marriage should only be a religious thing, and should have nothing to do with the government.

Anything to back up your claim?
I think people being allowed to do something they want to to make their life happier, that doesn't affect anyone else is a good thing all round. But then again, I like people.

It's a State issue and the 10th amendment protects states from the Federal govt. forcing that and the SCOTUS has no legal standing to do so either.
