Should salary cuts for senators and representatives be a viable alternative to raising taxes?

Hell no,Those SOB's should automatically cut their salary by 50% in economic down turn

Absolutely, they need to feel our pain....

If Congress and President, who have excellent benefits and salaries, perform badly, perhaps they should face cuts, or at the very least no increases, just like the general public does in the market place.

Cutting there salaries,what is that going to do.It sure will not
put a dent in the deficit,that is like going after the rich, if you tax
the rich 70% it won't be a drop in the bucket.They are trying to make
you cool-aide drinkers feel good, they take money from the rich and
your lifesyle does not improve.The rich just stop hiring and start
laying off,then all you cool-aide drinkers feel good because we just
screwed the rich who built this business and then you say, "what
happened why is the economy so bad",it isn't bad yet but the libs are
gonna take you there.
Why does a lawyer leave a $300,000 dollar a
year job to take a job as a politician for 1/2 that.DUH???? What we
need is term limits on all politicians pay them a million a year for 5
years and this would be cheaper than what is going on in politicals
today.Wake up people everyone wants to go after the rich,the poor do
not provide jobs.Like I said on another similiar question,they tax me
too much and people will start getting laid off and I will cancel that
$100,000 truck I have on order.

They wont let it happen, they will keep raising their salaries and benefits even if they have to raise taxes to do it. They will tell the public the high taxes are for our own good though because they care for the people. lol

Absolutely. They are already well off the way it is.

If they are not performing the job that they are sent up there to do. I
disagree with their ability to make their own pay raises.

A, it wouldn't make a dent in the budget. B, we're already getting the bottom of the gene pool in congress, don't make it harder to attract talent.

How do they say , it's a start in addition to other cuts.

They should be asked to make sacrifices like the rest of us and set a good example as good and responsible leaders.
