    As far as Ia am concerned It is un-American to say. A person has to explain what he does with his money in the first place!

    I think it is none of your business to know about anyone's finances!

    Try and understand the USA has a very unfair tax system! You are just jealous of other people's success. Stop blaming others for your weaknesses!

    I'll know how well traveled he is when I see his passport from his 1980s world tour.
    Any travel he has done that he has not paid for does not count.

    His mother was white, so he is 50% white.
    That means that there is another 50% to be assigned.
    At best he is 50% Black.
    Others have claimed that he is 40% Arab and that would mean 10% Black.

    It is un american if you have to explain what you do with your own money and it is not un american if you put it other accounts so the government wont take your money and give it to the lazy welfare and illegal immigrants..Nothing wrong with hanging on to as much as your own money as you can.

    Let's just make it a Law that each candidate must turn over every personal document weither public or private before being able to run.

    Let's make it a manditory FBI/National Intelligence Agency background check must be done before a candidate can run.

    It should be manditory that a complete history must be public before being a viable candidate for any office.

    Then we won't have any of these questions when they do run or are elected.

    Tax sheltering is only un-American to people with small minds and even smaller bank accounts. I'm not rich but I support the right to keep as much of your money as you can.

    I'm not an American but personally don't blame him. Your economy right now is stagnant and you've got a 15.8 Trillion dollar debt heading towards 18 Trillion dollars. Its far more prudent to have all your eggs in a few baskets as apposed to one. There is nothing unpatriotic its just common sense if you have the bucks.
    Tax avoidance well that's up to the IRS to decide since you can easily earn money, pay the taxes on it and still put it in Switzerland without avoiding any taxes. Besides I'm sure the IRS has gone over all his Swiss accounts and foreign holdings with a fine tooth comb.

    Actually I read somewhere that a good percentage of offshore accounts is usually there for the husband hiding it from the wife or the wife hiding it from the husband not because of taxes.

    Well gossip is always good - lol Considering that no one would know about Gov and Mrs Romney's accounts except that he released his tax return - I am not concerned on taxes or hiding money from the Mrs

    Yes, it will probably be the nastiest in modern times - Obama has already run 62,500 (round numbers) TV ads and according to the people who follow these things, 52,000 were negative attack ads on his opponent. He has spent over 100 million on his campaign ads alone. Romney has run 17,000 ads and most are positive and he has spent far far less. Now I expect Romney will step it up and will spend dollars on showing Obama's record.

    Oddly, things in this country have gotten less nasty - we are a long way from where we started : " Thomas Jefferson's camp accused President Adams of having a "hideous hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman." In return, Adams' men called Vice President Jefferson "a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father."

    As the slurs piled on, Adams was labeled a fool, a hypocrite, a criminal, and a tyrant, while Jefferson was branded a weakling, an atheist, a libertine, and a coward."

    Ouch. Thank you for the answer. I will have to put your election in more of a long term historical context.

    Up here you can run attacks on the opponents but there is a fine line that if you cross it will backfire on you. The voters don't like the elections getting too personal. A couple of elections ago the Conservatives got in with a minority government so the opposition Liberals, New Democratic Party and Bloc Quebecois formed an alliance to oust the Conservatives. This is legal and usually done directly after the election but they waited about a month before trying it. The Prime Minister went to the Governor-General and had parliament shut down for a month as a cooling off period. During that month the backlash from the general public against the opposition parties was so huge their alliance collapsed. The public looked at it like they were spitting on previous elections outcome. Basically you can't get away with much crap or the public will turn on you quickly.

    I understand you live in France and have an income of $50 to $75k!

    As far as I am concerned you have already left the USA behind! If you lived in the USA most of your working life. Your generation lived better and had more prosperity that any other generation in the history of man kind!

    And if you lived in France your whole life your opinion means even less!

    Your completely correct I don't get why it matters where his bank accounts are. What difference would it make for his presidency, maybe other presidents screwed up the country because had their accounts here. I know it sounds idiotic but I guess We'll never know.

    Your are right! You must understand! If you read the comments from: Idiot repubs:, BOB:, and bizutage01. You find that one is a 72 year old man that lives in France. The other is a Male that makes $100K per year and says he is moderate and the other is a 54 year old man that calls himself a progressive and he is really a communist at heart!

    These people are not concerned a bit with your standard of living in the future! They say they want to give you "free health care" and never let anyone live in poverty. However, every government that have followed the system that they want. the common people like you and me never get the chance to become wealthy!

    All of these people that want to make these changes are people that did not want to put in the work to be successful and think that they should take it from some one else who is willing to put in the time!

    A 74, 54 and a 50 year old have a big head start on you and your generation. Just remember, they will out number your generation for over 40 years. That is all of your productive years. Just so they can have FREE HEALTH CARE AND unlimited Social Security they did not earn!

    You obviously have a good head on your shoulders. Just make sure you read the Bio's of the nuts!
