Should Random Drug Testing Be Illegal?

I think so. It's basically an illegal search. They have no evidence, yet they search people's bodies anyway. What's next, video cameras at your house to see if you are making up your bed? Wake up people.

Just say no. For once in your lives say no, not to yourselves, but to them. Say no to Rick Scott, to your boss, to your insurance company, and all the other fascist pigs who would dare ask you for your pee. Better yet, throw it in their faces. (Figuratively speaking, of course.)

Laws/Rules that assume guilt until proven innocent have no place in a free society and should not be allowed by the government or private employers. If there is valid evidence to suspect that a citizen/employee might be acting inappropriately or breaking laws/rules and or they are endangering others then action is then appropriate to determine the problem.

Proactive policies and laws which simply assume citizens are the scum off the bottom of the barrel until proven otherwise are killing this country and the myopic control freak geniuses who condone and encourage this type of tyrannical fascist crap -- in order to feel so much more secure -- deserve the perfect little gilded cages they are building for themselves.

Neither private nor public employers should be permitted to conduct random drug screenings. They are a violation of the 4th Amendment!

I think drug testing is sometimes appropriate, but only if done voluntarily, like for a job, but not by law enforcement or to be used as criminal evidence. So put me down as a moderate communist/fascist.

Gee, like how balanced your question is. Many companies have it as part of their condition for employment and I think that a company has the right to know if you are impaired while on the job. Drugs are illegal and a company does not want someone that routinely breaks the law as an employee. If you don't like it you don't have to work for those companies.

We will give up our freedoms here in the U.S. not to our government, but to the corporations who own an increasingly greater portion of our elected officials every day.

You don't have to submit to random drug testing. Unless you want a job.

It's up to you. Vote for the candidates who will put an end to unrelegulated corporatism (if you can find one), or submit your urine (or hair). And please, don't say it doesn't matter to you because you don't use illegal drugs. They'll be trying to control another aspect of your life next year, and it won't have to be something illegal.

EXCEPT in safety sensitive jobs such as CDL bus, truck, train operators, police and fire, pilots, etc. That sort of positions.

Oh I forgot one group, 100% OF ALL POLITICIANS MUST BE DRUG TESTED AT RANDOM AND WILL FORFIT THEIR JOBS IF FOUND TO BE POSITIVE. That includes all types of drugs and alochol. Can't have drugged politicians making our laws now can we.

Random drug testing of somebody walkiing down the street? No. Random drug testing of a specified population whose drug-free status would seem to be of some utility to society? Yes. Cops and airplane pilots head my list, but I work my way down to civil servants generally and welfare recipients.

If there was a way to determine levels of toxicology maybe I would see it differently. But to fire someone tuesday for smoking a joint friday AT HOME when he is off work for the weekend is sort of messed up. Now if that test determined that this guy blazed up or did a line before he came to work ..... Fine, fire his dumb ass!!!

    "communist fascist". isn't that oxymoronic?
Anyway random drug is useful. If you're a commercial airline pilot, soldier, or police officer, then it's a good thing they attempt to prevent you from impairing your judgement with drugs.
If it's performed by your employers then it's probably not illegal, it'll be part of your contract that they can perform them.
Generally they're a good thing, and the only reason you'd worry about them is if you happen to be taking illegal drugs.
Anyway, what's wrong with giving them a little urine? it doesn't hurt.

Unless there's a reason to believe someone is high on something while at work and depending on the type of work being performed I doubt one can get into to much trouble pushing a broom. If there's an accident involved then yes a drug test should be administered. Random testing why?

that's how it was at one time. If you got in an accident at work the first thing they would do is send you to the hospital for a test before I moved to Atlanta I worked at Georgia Pacific in Albany Georgia. It was always a hoot to see people desperately wrapping up wounds doing self first aid to avoid reporting the accident.

Drug Testing is control. What peolpe do in order to make a living is give up their own power and Right's. What happens in our society, happen's cuz people of the Masses surrender and obey. They will not stand up for them selve's, for fear of change. They fit into a Molded reality, where stagnation becomes the Nation under Gods Control. not God Agency- which is written within Our Constitution.

I am adamantly opposed to substance prohibition because it increase criminal activity, it is an economic drain, and it's none of the governments business what one does to his own body. However, it's the right of the employer whether or not he wants to test his employees for drugs.

Sorry, but, I've been around people who do crack and heroin, and all they've ever done is gotten violent when they can't get their drugs or they're high. I see no point of those drugs at all, they ruin lives and they've almost ruined mine.

Unless you are willing to ignore the fact that far more people die annually as a direct result of alcohol use than from heroin and crack combined, your point cannot be held as a valid one.

    Colorado flag

I currently have a home in Pueblo Colorado, the local Walmart is hiring and did test 178 persons for pre-employment drug testing. A total of 178 persons failed the test. Now what is wrong with this picture? There is a doctor in this area that is giving all these loosers a marijuana card for eating problem, depression and headachs. Christ I should be on drugs for not being on drugs.

Everyone in this country is on a drug of one form or another. It is not just one party or another it is all parties. Hell the so called conservatives don't just ask for a hand out from the goverment they demand it. They are the worst on perscription drugs (makes it OK in their minds). Liberals want to smoke pot and eat brownies from the marijuana dispensaries.

I have listened to it all in the last few years.

    I just don't get it?!?

There working on that here. Law enforcement is anyway, to test the levels of THC in ones system for DUI purposes if a person smoked the day before and got in an accident the day after they couldn't legally give that person a DUI under current law.Although THC builds up and is stored in fatty tissue then slowly released. So until they can actually pinpoint an acceptable level not to many DUI's are written for pot. Unless the guy has a joint hanging out of his mouth at the time of arrest, that might be a good indicator. Gotta love Colorado

Colorado law on Weed is liberal but it sure is breeding a bunch of worthless people. The perscrition drugs here is what is consuming the working class. Hell I could be on weed and pain meds legally if I wanted too but I choose not too. I don't condem people who like their weed but hold a job and get a life. I finally got this message through my wife's son and now he is working at becoming a cop.

On the other side of the coin my oldest son already knocks down 6 figures because of his prescription for ADHD has helped immensely. Without it I doubt he would have never made it through college then on to a career as a software engineer. To many take advantage of the system but it does work for some others just like being high. I know I do
