Should Presidential Candidates Campaign on Their Own Merit or Attack Their Opponents?

I'd LOVE to see them campaign on their own merit.

It would be refreshing.

I do get a perverse kick out of all the stuff they tell about each other and whats true and whats not. I`m not a Romney fan, but he sure has Obama`s economic record right on.

I say use both. We need to know what sucks about the other candidate.

I would like to hear how each of them plans to fix the economy and what to hear Romney how he is going to about NDAA and the Patriot Act and all the EO's that Obama wrote. Romney already has said the he supports both the acts which tell me that he is not fit for the office and is almost as bad as Obama. I am tired of having to pick from the lesser of two evils. I want a President that will stand up for the people and the Constitution for once. There is a lot of crap that needs to be done away with.

I agree with you. I'm tired of picking the lesser of two evils. That what it seems to come down to each time. It would be nice if someone with a real platform would stand up and shoulder the burden of being president--someone who has a real interest in America and We, the People.

Ron Paul has the best interest of America, but he is not going to be on my ballot. Gary Johnson would also be better than Romney. I wished they had allowed him in most of the debates as I would have liked to learn more about him. He was in the first debate and I missed most of it.

It would be hard for Obama to campaign on his merits as he has none significant enough to mention. If he mentions the health care mess, he has 67% of the electorate against him. What to do? Have scarey Harry Reid bring up the 30 odd bills passed by the House and see if they can be useful to help stop the train wreck we are currently facing. Reid is the obstructionist and the simple little man must not realize what a fool he is.

Obama has been making the case for Romney with his attack ads. Reid has to go. He's a senile old coot who belongs in a nursing home, not in Congress. He can take Pelosi with him. They can share a room together in la-la-land.

If we throw Schummer into the mix, they could be an incarnate of the 3 stooges!

So that leaves only one option, to make the other guy look like more of a loser than they themselves are.
And I'll tell ya, that's gonna be damn hard to do for those guys, because both of these baffoons think they are the cat's meow.
While America is in recession verging on depression, they both are spending millions upon millions of dollars campaigning like America was doing great money wise and there was nothing to worry about.
I would think most Americans are fed up with both democratic and republican leadership at this point of wealth flaunting by our political leaders.
Let's hope all that money was for nothing, and an independent win's, Lol, wouldn't that be a stick up their asses, Lol !!!!!!!!

You make an excellent point. It would be better if they did waste so much money on their campaigns and spent more time doing something to improve the economic situation in America.

Highlight your own strengths, while pointing out your opponents weaknesses. Sounds like a good strategy to me.

That's what so great about presidential campaigns--they point out all the crap they've been pulling. Once election time is over, they go back to covering for each other.

The economy didn't collapse because of Obama. My very favorite thing is when conservatives who talk big sh*t about others come in to apply for assistance and they have to tell me what other assistance they get. Nobody knows about their business except me, but I sure do get a big kick out of their hypocricy. POOR bastids, now they can hate themselves.
