even if it's in front of a child?

Just look at any college campus. Male bonding in America today often consists of best friends calling each other the crudest names they can come up with, usually involving a combination of profanity and genitalia. While it is easy to see how some people could say they don't have culture. The truth of it is they do have culture, and profanity is just part of it. It's not the same culture as those who say they have no culture. But it is a culture none the less Those same college students on the other hand may look at the so called "cultured" people and consider them arrogant, stuck up, judgmental and/or out of touch.
Another fine example comes from our very own military, spend a day in the life of any maintainer in any branch of the military and you will hear more four letter words and insults hurled across the room than a week long south park marathon. It's just part of the culture.
Just as most Americans turn there nose up at the thought of eating horse meat and the French look at it as just another protein on their plate. There are some people that find a certain word(s) offensive and others that see it as just another word(s) in their lexicon.

And of course I agree that each individual has there own interests, this is self evident in everyday life. But all the same, just because I find something interesting does not necessarily mean you will. This does not mean it is not interesting, only that you are not interested in it. I doubt there are two people in this world that share all the same interests.
Also among women, manners became rougher.
I have no problems with swear words. They're just words. It's the meaning behind them that has a greater impact and rarely is there any meaning at all, when they're thrown around so casually all of the time.
The only "bad word" out there is the word "bad".
