Campaign finance laws require disclosing political campaign contributors. President Obama has decided to use this transparency to "out" donors to his political opponent, Mitt Romney. The Obama campaign shamed donors for "betting

against America," and accused them of having a "less-than-reputable" record.
This past week, one of [Obama's] campaign websites posted an item entitled "Behind the curtain: A brief history of Romney's donors." In the post, the Obama campaign named and shamed eight private citizens who had donated to his opponent. Describing the givers as all having "less-than-reputable records," the post went on to make the extraordinary accusations that "quite a few" have also been "on the wrong side of the law" and profiting at "the expense of so many Americans."
Theodore Olson, the former U.S. solicitor general criticized the Obama campaign: "We don't tolerate presidents or people of high power to do these things... When you have the power of the presidency—the power of the IRS, the INS, the Justice Department, the DEA, the SEC—what you have effectively done is put these guys' names up on 'Wanted' posters in government offices."In The Wall Street Journal, Potomac Watch columnist Kimberley Strassel notes Barack Obama's attempts to intimidate contributors to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.

They aren't attacking anyone. Calling the posting of documented factual information an attack seems to indicate that someone is afraid of the truth, and that the cries about "transparency" are just another example of conservative hypocrisy.

Nothing wrong with sharing facts - the problems happen when the media only shows one set of facts and never vets the other side. In the case of Obama the media has been very neglectful and short on real investigation.

Since when does sliming someone by calling them unpatriotic and "betting against America" constitute "sharing facts"?

Since when does outsourcing American job for profit become patriotic. There is a name for people that harm America for money, TRAITOR. They are the modern day Benedict Arnolds.

The jobs belong to the companies not to the American workers. Yes, companies should try to hire Americans because they need Americans to purchase their products or services but the jobs themselves belong to the company.

and the profits belong to the Americans. We don't want to bankrupt companies by forcing them to hire American workers that have to abide by over-regulated government controls.

America should concern itself with wealth and opportunity for its citizens, not full time employment... and Leftists will focus on employment even for illegal aliens

There is no Fair and Balanced. Obama revealed Romney's major contributors so he should also reveal his major contributors (not the bottom 50%). This makes the case to overturn the Citizen's United v. FEC. Our country is bought by the 1% and paid for by the 99%. Neither party deserves to govern our nation.

This website seems to want people from both sides (democrats v. republicans) to fight. When will there be a party that actually speaks for the people, someone (or party) that actually speaks for the benefit of this "whole" nation and not soundbites from the left or right. My 2 cents

The Obama 2012 campaign did more than re-release already public info -- the campaign slimed the donors.

It is Obama thuggery and down right wrong in every way! Obama is a thug and has no leadership skills or a personal record to stand on so he has to result in thuggery, lying and deceit to get re-elected and the Liberal Leftisit propaganda media will go right along with it!

I guess you don't care if the president intimidates individuals by personally identifying and calling them out on a website. But, you probably would care if a Republican did it.
  • Diane Fef 2012/05/03 03:45:59

No, I don't care. And, if the Republicans want to publish names of donors to President Obama, that wouldn't bother me either, as long as the details they publish are true.

I saw an ad on Fox last night that said that President Obama has not been transparent about who is donors' are. Is that true? Because if not, that is an attack and slander.

Simply listing who someone's donors are (so long as it's true) is not.

Unless RWNJ's think that should be against the law?
