"According to a recent Gallup poll, the American public's trust in newspapers is on the rise.'
OH REALLY?!...
From the article...and no mention of Gallup...
"The Times Company, which has seen its annual revenues fall by about 30 percent in the last five years, has waded into the waters of higher education more deliberately than some of its peers"
"The Times Company would not disclose how much money it has been making from its higher ed forays, but Nudelman says it has been “very happy” with the outcome so far"
A more accurate interpretation of the Gallup poll:
"One other interesting part of the Gallup poll was that public confidence in newspapers did not rise alongside trust in TV news."

btw ...the poll was a wopping 1000 people....and related to how they like the news sources they read...which meant that they would give an opinion of probably what they bought...

According to a recent Gallup poll, the American public's trust in newspapers is on the rise. So what better time than now for The New York Times to make its transition into the education industry?
Yep, you read that correctly. The popular newspaper is getting ready to open a program that will grant four-year degrees at some point in the future, if things go according to plan.
"Full-fledged degrees" might be a long way off, but it could be indicative of the direction the education industry will take in the future.
The Washington Post has reportedly implemented similar programs.

While the programs will not count toward any degree, they represent the media company’s first foray into multicourse online sequences intended to confer a coherent body of knowledge. And that is yet another step toward full-fledged degree programs, which are coming, according to Felice Nudelman, the company’s executive director of education.

the msm is totally NOT .. trustworthy in any sense of the word ..
WHY should we WASTE any more time or attention on something that outlived its usefulness and is only around as a self-promotional arm to the ones they sponsored into public office?
They certailny won't be giving ethics classes anytime soon. But we might need some propaganda classes and they are very qualified for those!!
Again thanks for the third choice!!
Almost all the journailsm / communication majors I knew wanted to "change the world" and now are looking for work.
The people I knew who went into medicine and nursing and engineering are the ones who actually have helped others.
Just an observation.
So who trusts newspapers in the US?

Just try telling the truth. Old fashioned Journalism.
NOT the loony left libtard spin, lies, propaganda and PC garbage they keep trying to feed us.
Don't trust the mainstream media.
Newspapers in this country are going down the drain because the majority of people do not want to read the drivel written in them. So indeed, lets teach more people to write drivel. To tilt stories. To insert their disguised opinion into hard news stories. Brilliant! Marx and Mao would be proud. Onward comrades, right into the drain. Let me get a bucket of water to wash you down with.
this paper is so far left it makes Pravda look conservative
Made me wonder. If they are supposed to look at demographic changes, how are they going to track them if they stop polling subjects who demonstrate them empirically?
Maybe they can offer a combined class in 'Creative Journalism' with Jason Blair and Janet Cooke for professors!
The only thing either of those rags is good for is lining bird cages and wrapping garbage!
