If any of the movie patrons had a gun, the violence would not have been so extensive. What do you think?

Not no, but 'hell no' ... trying to avoid being shot by one idiot is enough ... don't need to wind up in the crossfire of two or more idiots.

But really, nobody could have gotten a decent bead on the perp while the house lights were down. The projectionist should have hit the lights, pulled out a rifle, and put the animal down. Alternately, there should be a night scoped rifle in the projection room for the attendant.

Can you imagine how much worse it could have been if everyone in that theater who had a gun used it? In a dark theater without knowing who was shooting, the likelikhood is that more people would have been shot by 'friendly" fire.

Citizens should be able to carry guns but I'm not sure that more people shooting would have been a good thing unless someone in the theater was trained in a combat situation their chances of hitting the gunman and not another movie goer are not very good.

Mexico has very strict gun laws and its a freaking war zone down there. Criminals break the laws so passing firearm restrictions do not effect them.

Clearly, some freak with an AR-15 and full body armor isn't going to rethink his plans because guns are against the rules.

Actually, trained individuals who've been through the mandatory training for their concealed weapons permits should continue to do what they do. All other patrons should hope several are in the theatre.

FACT: The national five day waiting period under the Brady Bill had no impact on murder or robbery, but slightly increased rape and aggravated assault rates by a few percent. For these two crime categories, the major effect was to delay law-abiding citizens from getting a gun for protection. The risks were greatest for crimes against women.
    * Dr. John Lott Jr., Univ. of Chicago School of Law
FACT: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 per day.
    * Gary Kleck, Criminologist, Florida State Univ.
Often the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminals) is shed.
FACT: Every day, 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes per day are prevented just by showing a handgun. In less than 0.9% of the time is the gun ever actually ever fired.

One should not be allowed to carry a gun into a movie theatre, that would be rediculous.I could not imaging a bunch of gun toters firing in a theatre, that would be insane.

In a dark theater? With everyone running in different directions? If you were to use a gun in a theater under those conditions, I would consider you reckless beyond belief. How do you think you would feel if you killed one of the patrons in your haste to take out the gunman - and he was wearing Kevlar and a helmet, so you're saying under those circumstances, you could manage to get off a kill shot? I have a lot of trouble buying that. Sorry.

Some people just can't be honest. I shoot a scoped S&W; 629 and a 100 yd shot with that is ony about 75% at a 6" target...
Only an idiot would shoot that distance with a Semi-auto pistol.
