In the wake of controversy surrounding Patricia Krentcil, who was accused of putting her 6-year-old daughter into a tanning booth, New York lawmakers are contemplating an outright ban on the use of tanning booths for minors. But Krentcil's case isn't the only reason it's being considered. Officials say they're concerned about teen use, particularly around prom, and the 72 percent increase in melanoma that The American Cancer Society has reported over the last decade.
A similar law was proposed in Chicago by Alderman Debra Silverstein, who told CBS, "When I saw this news story about [Krentcil] on the news, I was like, we really have to do something. We have laws against selling cigarettes to minors, because it causes cancer, and tanning in the tanning beds causes cancer." Unfortunately for much of the nation, Snooki is over 18, so she'll be allowed to continue tanning regardless. But is the proposed ban taking it too far?

you have no right tell Parents what their kids can or cant do
you want the government to dictate to Parents they they cant allow their kids use tanning beds if they want
you either back big government or not
the government has no interest in the welfare of the minors
its all about control
if you do not want your daughter to use tanning bed fine but you have no right to tell other mothers/fathers weather their kids can use tanning beds PERIOD
stop responding to me if you cant use logic
And People who say they are teachers do not use the term dude
It will never end. Parents need to be the best parents that they can be for their kids, not mine.
Now, smoking around others is a different story altogether.
Remember the reason tanning booths were developed in the first place was to enable people to avoid sun bathing and still get good tans indoors by moderating their exposure to a narrower spectrum of less harmful UV radiation. Yes, it's still harmful and can still cause cancer of not properly moderated but it's still safer than sun bathing. Banning minors from using tanning booths is only going to drive kids back into the sun- which is worse!
And will the MSM make it a point to keep us updated on how the ban is not only failing to reduce the statistics of skin cancer among minors but contributing to it? Probably not.
