Should men have any say in abortion?

I've always heard that abortion is the woman's choice but what if the father wanted to keep the child? I don't necessarily agree with abortion but I won't tell others what to do with themselves. I would like to know your opinion if fathers should have a say in an abortion. Not all men are deadbeats and abortion doesn't only affect women.

They can give their opinion if they're the father. But ultimately it's not their body that's going to go through a pregnancy, so the final choice should be left up to whoever is pregnant. No one else.

I don't believe that the man should tell the woman what to do, but I at least feel that a reasonable discussion between both parties should take place. A pregnancy affects both parents, so it's reasonable to say that so would an abortion. I get really angry when I hear about women getting an abortion without even discussing it with the male first. I think that ultimately the final decision is the woman's but for her to just come to that decision by herself is more than a little unfair.

I believe they should have at least a say because I've heard that not allowing abortion violates a woman's reproductive rights, but what about the man's rights since he did father a child. We can't keep having double standards

I know they don't but I was wondering if they didn't want the woman to have an abortion should they have a say in it. I'm always hearing how it's the woman's choice but her choice can affect others

But, an abortion doesn't just affect the mother. ESPECIALLY if the pregnancy occurred in a stable relationship, that decision affects EVERYONE surrounding the mother and her baby.

Yes, but the mother is the one who has to give up her body for nine months. She risks the most with a pregnancy. Her body, her decision.

I mean it in the most respectful way possible when I say that that is an utterly ignorant and selfish outlook.

And I mean this in the nicest way possible when I say that a man who tries to keep his wife/girlfriend pregnant when she doesn't want to be is cruel and repulsive.

What's repulsive is society's inability to take responsibility for their actions and it's addiction to the dependent, nanny-state mentality. I don't know how it happened, but apparently responsibility doesn't mean a damn thing anymore. Apparently pregnancy and creating life isn't something special or sacred in this day and age, it's "giving up your body for nine months" and made out to be an inane "decision". Top it off with the "IDGAF I do what I like" mantra, and I really question your use of the word "cruel".

I'm not going to debate whether abortion is right or not. That's not what the thread's about and I've had enough of those stupid fights. So bye.

EDIT: Also, if you think forcing someone to stay pregnant is not a cruel thing to do then you obviously don't know very well how pregnancy and birth affect a person's body and mind.

Yeah. The thread really isn't debating the morality of abortion, it's debating whether or not men, who share HALF the responsibility of producing a baby, should have a say in whether that baby is killed or not.
