LOL This is Memorial weekend, and the police are stopping people to check for seatbelts and drunk drivers. Seriously, I'm still laughing that you posted this, you, and the two people who raved you, must be so intoxicated out of your minds, you just haven't got a clue. Please, don't go anywhere this weekend.

So you are saying that alcohol should be illegal? We tried that before. It didn't work. You should look up the 18th amendment. Hint, it's not there anymore.

    Einstein's Firecracker
I never said that. You are the one who put it on the level of marijuana. Alcohol is controlled though, can't consume just anywhere, can't drink and drive, can't sell to minors (anyone under 21). The 18th amendment was enacted to make a better America, but it just could not make better people. Tell me, is there anyway that legalizing marijuana would make the world any better?

Yeah, there is. Marijuana is the largest cash crop in the country. It also goes completely untaxed. $900,000,000 of tax revenue flushed down the drain, that kind of cash could do a lot of good don't you think? Also there are millions of nonviolent drug users clogging up Americas jails costing John Q Taxpayer an average of $32,000 a pop. Furthermore the Mexican drug cartels exist only because marijuana remains illegal in the United States. Wanna know who to blame for all those murders just south of the border? Look no further then the DEA. The only logical solution is to legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana. legalize marijuana

One joint is equal to smoking eleven cigarettes. What about all the medical costs associated with that? "Oh, it doesn't do anything to you, it just makes you feel good." What a load of crap! It changes real world perceptions so people don't function normally. " Dude, my hands are so big". What about all the lost work time from people rather being high? This is the same stupid arguement made by every pot head who doesn't want to see the damage done, just because they want to "feel good." Alcohol and marijuana are the same and neither is safer than the other. So, I ask again. how does legallizing marijuana help America, other than financial, but socially, morally, and as a society?

anything in excess turns to poison, even water. Smoking anything is dangerous because the only thing that is supposed to be in your lungs is oxygen. But to consume it orally causes no harmful effects.

Consuming marijuana has the effects as smoking it. They just take longer to kick in and will last longer. It gets absorbed into the blood stream and still affects the brain by altering the chemistry. You say, "no harmful effects," but, can you tell after one pot brownie? When you start to loose your concentration and short term memories, will you connect that to all the marijuana you consumed over time? Hey, a little at a time couldn't hurt me, but maybe it's the schizophrenia setting in.

"One joint is equal to smoking eleven cigarettes" Vaporizing a bowl of weed is equal to one sip of beer. ergo weed is not as damaging for you as alcohol as long as you take it proper.

So the fact that Americas jails are over run with drug addicts going to the DT's who never hurt anybody is not a social or moral issue?

How many people can you prove have died from a marijuana overdose?

I never said there was no damage done, I only said that it was less damaging then maintaining this failed prohibition on marijuana.
  • Einstei... BB 2012/06/02 08:36:12
    Einstein's Firecracker
    So sip your beer, then.

Why did you say "drug addicts" and not alcoholics? I see drug addiction as a lack of will and morals.

Was it the overdose, or the falling out the window that they though was further away, that killed them? But, each person is different, especially if you have a heart condition, one joint can kill you.

Damage is still damage. What harm is there in just saying no to drugs?
  • BB Einstei... 2012/06/02 14:52:11

"What harm is there in just saying no to drugs?" There is no harm, for you. Unless you count the millions of non-violent people in jail costing you hundreds of millions of dollars annually, The billions spent funding the DEA's failed "war on drugs" and the extremely violent mexican drug cartels who exist only because we are continuing this prohibition on marijuana.

Einstein defined insanity as trying the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result. Why not try something different with marijuana?

Quit using marijuana recreationally, and there wouldn't be a reason to prohibit its use. Of the 36,284 motor vehicle accidents, does it state how many were the cause of the driver being stoned on pot, or is that information conveniently shuffled in the paper work? I get my information from many sources government, public, private, and my own observations, I do know what marijuana does and could be used for. You are so deep into your own philosophy of false good, that you can only see it from the inside of thick, hazy fog. If that's what matters to you, go ahead, smoke your brains out.

I don't smoke pot. However I am not so blinded by arrogance to see that the rules that I live by should be the same for everybody.

    http://norml.org/library/item...

according to this article "In driving simulator tests, this [marijuana] impairment is typically manifested by subjects decreasing their driving speed..."

I am not saying that driving on marijuana should be legal, but when cannabis remains illegal this kind of distinction can not be made, street dealers can and do sell to whoever wants to buy where a dispensary could only sell to people who are over 18 or 21 depending on the law.

As it stands now, there is a drug arrest made every 18 seconds in America. If marijuana were legalized, these drug-related arrests would drop immensely, freeing up jail space and allowing police to focus on violent crimes.

If there are no arrests, then how will law enforcement make up for the lost revenue in drug fines? Bake sales? Would the legallization of marijuana really make jobs of police any easier? Slow drivers are road hazards, and can be a ticketed offence, as well as intoxiction. Legallizing marijuana will not stop any one under 18 from obtaining it. Every week in the news paper, the courts are deeling with minors possessing alcohol, would marijuana be any harder for them to get. Still need money to buy pot, legal or illegal, so is any crime commited for that reason no longer a drug related crime? So, once a dispensary is open and people know where the drugs are, they'll be broken into just like pharmacies are for oxycodone. Your view is so one sided and narrow minded, that you are not taking the full picture of effects. And, again, I am asking, what good, to America, is having a bunch of stoned, lazy, useless, addicted pot heads walking around?
  • BB Einstei... 2012/06/05 21:44:12
    BB
Are you really suggesting that a few million dollars in fines are the reason that the government wants to pass on BILLIONS of dollars in lost tax revenue? If marijuana were legalized and taxed that alone would go very far in solving the debt crises, more schools could be built, roads fixed poorer communities could have outreach programs to help end poverty. You say that I am not seeing the big picture? You need to start fallowing the money and imagine what could be done.

Okay you are right, we should not build any dispensaries because they might someday be broken into. we should also close all of the 7/11s, pharmacies, banks, gas stations, movie theaters, bars, and computer stores because they have all been broken into. *sarcasm* Do listen to your self when you talk or do you just drift in and out?

P.S. people still pay alcohol citation fines all the time so that minuscule, insignificant revenue would not dry up completely

So, why not raise taxes on cigarettes and junk food to pay for health care? Why not raise taxes on gasoline to pay for road improvements? Banks, 7/11s, gas stations, movie theaters, and computer stores are robbed for money, not for drugs. Why legallize marijuana to fuel a growing drug problem in America, just for the tax revenue? You could convince me on medical marijuana, but not any other use. And, I couldn't trust the government or politicians to use the money as you suggest, except to line there pockets and build their own personal programs. But still, I think your grasping at staws.

" Do listen to your self when you talk or do you just drift in and out?"
I am very coherent, and proof read to make sure I am clear. It's just to bad you can't focus on my words. Hey, you sure you don't smoke weed, much?

Do really think this is because marijuana is illegal? This is about the drug cartels trying to control the trafficing coridors and distribution. They are saying that hey will be the only producers and sellers and that they want all the money that would be your tax initiative, and not just for marijuana, but all drugs. Legallizing marijuana would not stop this. It's not like they're Arkansa farmers with a co-op!

But, I have been thinking about the problem. If marijuana is legallized, then everyone could grow their own. I could sell mine at the farmers market or on the road side, like a lemonade stand. In my state, no taxes on unprossessed produce or "herbs", don't even need a permit or inspection to sell. All cash for me. I can pay off my student loan and mortgage, and get a new vehicle. I was looking inside that bax for so long, and finally looked outside the box, and found the answers to all my problems in pot. You've opened my eyes! Just need to by more guns to fight off the cartels.

By the way, did you know there is no sales tax in Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, or Oregon? Oregon, don't they grow alot of marijuana there? No money for you.
