People aren't the only ones who need food to survive. Based on a donation-only program, pets who belong to low-income families will now be able to get food stamps for their own nourishment needs. Once a family's low income is confirmed, families will get pet food each month for their furry loved ones, thanks to the Pet Food Stamps program.
The program's founder and executive director Marc Okon stresses, however, that the government is not involved and no taxpayer will be forced to contribute. "We're not looking for government funding at this point," Okon told ABC News. "Should the government be willing to provide assistance further down the line, we will look into it." Do you think low-income pets should get food stamps?

yadda, yadda, yadda.
And yes pet food IS understandable to me, as I'd rather see people buy THAT than the unnecessary junk that gets rung up, but if this is going to remain a separate program from food stamps, I'm for it being on a donation-only budget. I wouldn't want to add more taxes for something like this, even though it's a good idea.
We shouldn't segregate against people with animals and make their pets starve - and don't dare try to tell me "WELL IF THEY'RE POOR THEN THEY CAN'T AFFORD A PET SO THEY DON'T NEED ONE!!"
You can take that kind of heartless approach and GTFO right now.
As a pet owner, I know how important a pet can be to someone. It's not "just a pet", it's family. A companion, one who loves you unconditionally, and you share that same bond.
I feel sorry for you if you can't understand that.
Sometimes a furry companion can make all the difference. Pets are brilliant stress relievers and help with depression as well. Sometimes it's the difference between carrying on and suicide.
So, yes, regardless of the majority vote of others, my opinion stands proud that this is a brilliant idea to be shared with all. :)
I WILL WORRY ABOUT THIS
Before i'll worry about some nasty flea bags.
