But if the town was small enough that a dozen votes would make a difference, then it would be a small town where people would recognize when someone is not voting as themselves.

Absolutely. It is necessary to prevent voter fraud and impersonation. We need an ID to write a check, do banking, get a library card, drive a car.... Why on earth would anyone expect that we shouldn't need ID to vote.

Last election I walked into the polls, put down the plate of cookies I was carrying on the table where others had done the same and the town coffeepot was brewing. The Police Chief greeted us by name and thanked us for Sunday dinner. The Supervisor of the Check List greeted me by name, and then officially asked my name to check me off, handed me my ballot and off I went.

In a small town, it's rather silly. Everyone knows everything about you, and your name is the first thing. However, in a city where you don't have that level of recognition, I see no problem with asking for identification.

There was already a form of ID going on anyway. The voter registration system already tracks people.

The picture is funny though, true, but funny

the amount of voter fraud is very low; I don't think ID's would really change the election results in any way and it would bring us a step closer to a national ID program.

Until recently, NH didn't require ID, and we have never had fraud as far as I know. Bowing to pressure, they have implemented a voter ID law. I don't know that it is so rampant that we need such things. After all, it is not like votes win elections. Money does.

You need an ID to buy beer or smokes. You need one to drive, get a passport or enlist in the military. Some places require a photo ID to use a credit card. Why is it such a stretch of the imagination to prove you are who you say you are to vote? It's not the big deal that a certain Administration is trying to make it.

.The REAL ID Act of 2005 was an Act of Congress that made certain modifications in the US federal law regarding security, authentication, and insurance procedures standards concerning driver’s licenses and ID cards (identification cards). The law also treated certain immigration issues having to do with terrorism. What were the purposes of this act, though? The act was concerned with establishing and rapidly implementing regulations for State driver’s license and identification document security standards. It also had the purpose of preventing terrorists from abusing the asylum laws of the country. Unifying terrorism-related grounds for inadmissibility and removal was another one of its purposes, as well as ensuring expeditious construction of the San Diego border fence.
The act was enacted on May 11, 2005, effective May 11, 2008, and implemented various changes. The act was enacted on May 11, 2005, effective May 11, 2008, and implemented various changes. First of all, title II of the act was meant to establish new federal standards that applied to state-issued driver licenses and non-driver identification cards. It also changed visa limits for temporary workers, Australian citizens, and nurses. Regarding security, the act provided funding for some reports and pilot projects that had to do with border security. New rules covering delivery bonds were also introduces. Delivery bonds are similar to bail bonds, the difference being that the former are intended for aliens who have been released pending hearings. The act also updated and tightened the laws on application for asylum and deportation of aliens for terrorist activity. Another thing the act implements in waiving laws interfering with construction of physical barriers at the borders. Even though the act was concerned with the wellbeing of Americans and with controlling terrorist-related grounds, it still faced criticism and has been subject to numerous controversies.
Before deciding whether you support it or not, here is how the REAL ID Act of 2005 will affect you as a citizen. If you live and work in the United States, the act requires you to have a federally approved ID card for a wide array of purposes, such as traveling by plane, opening a bank account, collecting Social Security payments, and taking advantage of nearly any government service. This means that your driver’s license or ID card needs to be reissued in order to meet the federal standards set by the act. The bottom lime is that the REAL ID Act of 2005 was meant to establish what amounts to a national identity card.

I am , my point of pointing such out is not of the fact of it on the cards, my beef really so about the push for the Human implants. The cards can put away from you and the EMF ping would not be greater then with it on your person, the problems with such thing like the chip has a problem as like the say the use of Amalgam , Both in or apart of the body such encreasing the elf emf emp electrostatic or interaction between electromagnetic radiation on the body such creating various degrees of problems not limited to mental health problems, that can act like gulf war syndrome undiagnosable diseases , Be it so Sir, I have spent the last 10 plus years researching as a self made in social cultural epidemiological researcher on this topic and have as to date filed law suit dealing with this matter such I am even working on writing my 1st Book on line @ WWW. Writing.com {Elisheva & The way stones} I was also in the Army for a short time..I then got out of the army was ill then started my own Veteran self help group as as grass root groups too the http://www.ngwrc.org/ National Gulf War Resource Center Inc in about the years of 1998

Definitely. The most important of things for an American citizen to do and you're willing to let some illegal imposter come in and vote? Outrageous that a question such as this even needs to be asked, period. Unfortunately, though, it seems like it has to be. I don't understand for one second what the problem is with showing your damned ID before you vote. It boggles my mind that it's even a challenged question. This country is overdoing the "bending over backwards to accommodate" to the exclusion of the rights to the rest of us law-abiding citizens and I personally am getting sick of it.

You need an ID to......... Buy a pack of cigarettes, purchase alcohol, board a plane, drive a car, enter some Fed. Buildings, purchase cough syrup, claim winnings in pull tabs, claim winnings in a lottery, when you go to the emergency room, when you apply for welfare.

Yet liberals only complain about requiring one to vote. Where have all you people been all these years, why haven't you been bitching about ID requirements for everything else? Don't you care that these poor unfortunates can't get cough syrup when they need it?

Yes, damn right everyone should show ID, I've been votingfor 40 years and have always been asked for my ID prior to signing the voters registry. I thought this was required, show's that I didn't know how fraudulent voters were getting away with voting, of course call our present Presidential administration I'm sure that can produce any kind of ID you require, it's obviously an easy thing to bribe others to get for anyone.
