Some states in America have adopted more liberal views on "amour" than France. Several states in America have legislated same-sex marriage, while France still maintains the tradition of one man and one woman. France has had a national debate about same-sex marriage, and the country overwhelmingly accepts it, but the government has not yet made it legal -- and won't do so until next year.
France has gained a national consensus on transforming traditional marriage, but has not found consensus on economics. The country suffers high unemployment and a struggling economy. Should France focus its national debate on the economy, austerity, taxes and unemployment? Or are social issues more important than that?

The European country you probably assumed was already recognizing gay marriage will actually begin recognizing gay marriage (and allow gay couples to adopt) in 2013.

One house meeting or one national vote can decide this thing in a month. economies can take years, maybe decades to fix.
I am not a liberal either. I do not vote, and have no political leanings at all.
And no Ginger it is England, we are no longer UK, since Scotland is leaving to go it alone and the Welsh are to follow. I
As for Wales they will always be part of the UK, they have no international ackowldgment or any real way to sustain themselves as a modern society.
Wales is also thinking of leaving. If they want to go it alone, fine that is up to them. Scotland has found a way to go it alone, and Wales are seeking ways to leave as well.
FYI, you are equally as sarcastic to me.
According to what tradition? In Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, it is taught that polygamy is okay. Also it is taught that women are to be subservient to men. If that is tradition, then tradition is crap.
Also, homosexual marriages were recognized thousands of years ago.
Yep, even the Roman Empire was gay for gays.
