Should France Focus on Economy or Social Issues?

Some states in America have adopted more liberal views on "amour" than France. Several states in America have legislated same-sex marriage, while France still maintains the tradition of one man and one woman. France has had a national debate about same-sex marriage, and the country overwhelmingly accepts it, but the government has not yet made it legal -- and won't do so until next year.

France has gained a national consensus on transforming traditional marriage, but has not found consensus on economics. The country suffers high unemployment and a struggling economy. Should France focus its national debate on the economy, austerity, taxes and unemployment? Or are social issues more important than that?

REASON.COM reports:
The European country you probably assumed was already recognizing gay marriage will actually begin recognizing gay marriage (and allow gay couples to adopt) in 2013.

This is a false choice. In the real world, it is not either/or. Governments can and should address both economic issues and social problems.

Deciding what's legal and having the benefits or consequences of it, will happen a hell of a lot quicker than stabilizing an economy, which is far from a guarantee.

One house meeting or one national vote can decide this thing in a month. economies can take years, maybe decades to fix.

The french are doing OK; the Brits raised taxes on the rich 2 years ago and killed their economy; the Brits are having to repeal the act while the french are buying up the UK at bargain prices.

British or English please. :)) The English government have just lowered the taxes for the rich whilst attacking the poorest and vulnerable in society and taking away benefits leaving people destitute: benefits they have paid for out of their taxes and national insurance stamp, for the day they cannot work, or lose their job. Once they lose their unemployment benefit, or ESA if you are sick and cannot work at that time, they lose their homes as well since they lose their housing benefit and council tax benefit. They are hammering the unemployed hard, demonising them and the disabled, cutting money by means of sanctioning for any excuse they can find, or even tiny misdemeaners, really just to save money whilst giving muslims free money and housing, and giving billions of our money to terrorist states and anyone who comes into the country who has not paid into our tax system, so should get nothing.

    N. Ireland is part of the UK as well also and Scotland wont separate, despite what you might think, and if they wanted to, now would be the worst possible time.

As for Wales they will always be part of the UK, they have no international ackowldgment or any real way to sustain themselves as a modern society.

Scotland is likely going to separate, they are talking about it now. I know N. Ireland is part of England, but Wales is considering being Wales, and go it on their own. I live in England, I have Scottish relatives, and their parliment is seriously thinking of leaving, and the people are all for it.

Wales is also thinking of leaving. If they want to go it alone, fine that is up to them. Scotland has found a way to go it alone, and Wales are seeking ways to leave as well.

Marriage in which the man & the woman pro-create is traditional; hell there is no other marriage unless you marry thespices into the stew at the very end or marry two pieces of wood together to make it stronger. Dogs do not marry.

"Marriage in which the man & the woman pro-create is traditional"

According to what tradition? In Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, it is taught that polygamy is okay. Also it is taught that women are to be subservient to men. If that is tradition, then tradition is crap.

Also, homosexual marriages were recognized thousands of years ago.
