I think that we need to get realistic about the War On Drugs, and stop prosecuting victimless crimes like prostitution.

it is all a matter of externalities. what causes most negative externalities, legalizing or not? so the answer, first of all, is no. it is not the market need that determines whether they'd be arrested or not. so it is also wrong to bundle drug dealing and prostitutes in one question, because externalities in both markets are quite different. so the question is quite irrelevant and there is not much careful thought behind it

As long as prostitution and drugs provide as much revenue as they do; they'll be illegal.

Drug dealers, yeah. Prostitutes, no. That's their choice. Doesn't affect anyone but the people who are associated, shouldn't we focus on trafficking and catching murderers and all?

Let the people of the states decide and vote their own laws. It is not the govt's role to regulate 'morality' when they do (prohibition) they fail.

Drugs and prostitution are the epitome of the free market. No law or mores control them and they have and will always be there in the background. Why are we wasting time and money trying to stop them? Complete waste of resources. Let the churches do that with their believers high ground?

What saddens me is the involuntary sex slave trade and the drugs that play a part in forcing that. Wish we could stop that part of it but, reality says we can't!

What about murder-for-hire; they are also fulfilling a twisted need? Illegal or imoral is bad, period.

Prostitution is illegal unless you call it escort, or set up a camera and call it porn.
We can debate until we're blue in the face about pot, so I'm not even gonna go there. Yet, Alcohol, Tobacco which do harm people are still legal. And I'm pretty sure 5 hour energy can't be the greatest thing for the body.

Drug dealing, prostitution and vulture capitolism are all bad and should all be illegal. But pharmacies, sex within marriage and capitolism are all good and should all be legal.

This question is a little bit like asking if murderers should not be prosecuted because, after all, they are helping population control.

Drug dealers and prostitutes should not be arrested because depriving someone of their freedom for engaging in a consensual act is abhorrent.

I don't really care about prostitution but drug dealers sell death to little kids and they should stay in prison.

OTOH, if drugs were legal, then the kids would get carded. I'm not saying that they wouldn't figure out ways to still obtain the substances, but it is currently easier for a High School student to get marijuana than alcohol or tobacco.

Drugs and prostitution shouldn't be against the law; because in both cases, they are private sales, which effect no one, but the parties involved.

Legalize prostitution so it can be made safe.

Drugs? I know many say it would cut down on trafficking and crime if drugs were legal, but I'm not so sure.

Criminals need to be arrested and punished. We change laws to make behavior non-criminal, not vice versa.
