I think it's pretty silly this whole argument is even happening, actually. The state and everyone in it should be concerned with fraudulent names on voter lists. Otherwise, what's the point of voting at all?

Dead people and convicted criminals should automatically be removed from voter lists. They should also be removed from government social programs.

It is a "States Rights" situation unless they are voting in National Elections.
Then all the dead people and aliens that are not here legally should be put into space ships and blasted off into space where they can screw up other peoples tallies.

I live in IL I just called up to have my mothers name removed from the voters roles.. it makes it harder for dead people to vote that way..

Well, if the dead people and illegal aliens would quit voting, we wouldn't need to remove them from the voting lists... Of course the liberals have a problem with this since they think that neither the dead nor the illegal aliens should be disenfranchised... :)

There's no good reason not to remove ineligible voters. The only reason anybody could have for not wanting ineligible voters removed is because they think some of those ineligible voters might be voting for them.

They can't! According to TITLE 42 - THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE
    CHAPTER 20 - ELECTIVE FRANCHISE

SUBCHAPTER I-H - NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION Sec. 1973gg-6 Requirements with respect to administration of voter registration, the state is following the law.

But ONLY for those reasons specified... The problem is, that those are NOT who are being purged from the roles.

Voter fraud is NOT the problem that some make it out to be.... It's a very rare scenario. We get, maybe, one instance every Presidential election cycle or so. That's it.

????? Estimates as high as over millions of votes were cast for Obama using dead folks identities, or by illegal aliens, or voting several times with help from ACORN, etc.
  • CTF tncdel 2012/06/12 16:17:13
    CTF
And where's you proof of that? Because, according to the FEC, the ONLY cases of "voter fraud", stemmed from elderly people trying to cast a vote for recently deceased spouses. Which amounted to as many as 6 votes during the last 3 presidential cycles. But there were no multiple votes, and ACORN surely had no part in ANY of these instances. In fact, ACORN has been proven to be completely innocent of the registration fraud cases. Which is also, entirely different from voter fraud.

wouldn't be a problem in this tech age than to removed dead people.. illegals.. and make sure that people who MOVED and voting in another city in the SAME state weren't on 2 different lists.. I know I moved changed my voter registration within the first month of moving and CHICAGO didn't take me OFF their list even though I still live in IL.. should be easy to run a data base check now wouldn't it.. THAN no one would have DOUBTS now would they..?? TOOK IL 5 YEARS to remove me from my previous address..all the while I was voting at my new location
  • CTF lcky9 2012/06/12 16:53:40

Again... I have no problem with removing dead people, people who move, etc.... If that's all that they're doing. In Florida, however, they were purging people who were still eligible to vote.

I am SURE they are NOT doing that on purpose.. IF the Federal GOVERNMENT had helped out the states ALL data bases would be accurate.. HOWEVER.. just like with stopping the illegals there are NO VOTES if you make sure data bases are CORRECT.. With COMPUTERS there should be NO problem.. I was told by my state election board that IF someone dies they stay on the records to vote UNLESS someone sends them a DEATH CERTIFICATE.. with all relatives have to do when one dies WHY is the voters rolls NOT connected with the SS office?? THEY sure know how to stop the money but not a potential problem with voting.. Now if those who were taken off the rolls by mistake take in an ID they can register.. real simple.. I wold rather have one less citizen vote than 10 non citizens.. however .. have accurate voters rolls would be the best solution to the problem and you have to start somewhere..Here in IL I never feel like we have had a HONEST count.. We have illegals voting because of the MOTOR VOTER law.. Honestly I would rather see a LEGAL FELON vote than an ILLEGAL ALIEN..
  • CTF lcky9 2012/06/12 23:20:00

I'm not saying that they're doing it "on purpose", however, the result is the same either way. Now, logic would say that someone mistakenly taken off the rolls can register, but the process isn't that simple. Quite often, no one knows until it's too late since states that remove individuals, do so without notifying those affected. The very simple fix to that part is easy. Send out notifications with enough advanced notice that, unless, they can provide proof of eligibility, they will be removed from the rolls. But they don't do that.

As for having Social Security involved... I can't say that it's a bad idea, but I will say that, based on personal experience, most Federal agencies do not communicate well with each other. As I've experienced this year, becoming an identity theft victim from someone filing a tax return using my Social. I had to contact the various agencies myself, the IRS wouldn't do it for me.

The reason's not relevant. If they're not eligible to vote there they should be purged.

I never said that they shouldn't. But that's not what they've been doing in Florida.

In the 2000 elections I personally knew of THREE people who BRAGGED about voting at more then one location.. Jesse Jackson CALLED for Democrats to " Vote Early and Vote Often"..

It doesn't matter how many times the left SAYS that Voter Fraud is a myth.. As long as they are the ones MOST guilty of it,, NOBODY'S going to listen to them..
  • CTF Hawkeye 2012/06/12 16:59:02
    CTF
Well, if that's true, I hope you did your civic duty & contacted the FEC on those 3 people. As for Jesse Jackson, I'd love to see proof that he said what you claim he did.

Now, I never said it wa a "myth".... OF course it happens. It's just not nearly as common as the right makes it out to be. What IS a myth, however, is the claim that the left is any more guilty of it than the right. It is worth noting- though- that Ann Coulter, herself, was guilty of it.
  • Hawkeye CTF 2012/06/12 17:03:36
    Hawkeye
Ahhh.. it doesn't exist but if it does then Ann Coulter,, who never ran for ANY office,, is guilty of it..

JUST the kind of answer that I'd expect from a Left Winger..
  • CTF Hawkeye 2012/06/12 17:41:56
    CTF
Once again, you failed to pay attention to what I said.... I did NOT say, that it "doesn't exist", I said that it was extremely rare.

Also, tell me what Ann Coulter not running for office has to do with anything. You do know what voter fraud is, right? Who am I kidding, of course you don't, or else you wouldn't post such a ridiculous comment.
