If they choose to then that should be an option but not a requirement.

Otherwise, we may have good organ donors railroaded through the courts to get to their organs.

No, the state does not have the right to make that decision. That decision belongs to either the person being executed (if they made a decision on that subject) or the family.

Great way for them to give back to society. Mind you we'd have to stop using lethal injections for executions for this to work. Time to bring back hangings!

If the USA is going to complain to the Un about China doing this then they cannot really do it themselves and keep a shred of credibility (not that they have much anymore anyway). It would quickly become an ugly slippery slope. Inmates kept on death row or executed earlier than planned to fill orders, highest bidders, etc, etc

They should be encouraged to, just like everyone else, but should not be required to.

No, American convicts are killed with lethal drug doses and chemicals. I would not dare implant a patient with organs that have been dosed with lethal drugs, that would just be asking for trouble

Maybe there is a better way to kill them...or better yet, not to kill them.

that is an idea , but i really would not want to put chemical dosed organs in anybody, especially someone that was alredy ill

I agree, but there are other ways to kill someone. If nothing else, put them under, then just harvest the organs, and let them code out under anesthesia.

What possible difference can it make to someone after they are dead?

they should be cultivated and harvested on a regular basis...or a slaughter house...line them up and hit them in the head with a hammer....then begin the harvest of spare parts!!!

Have you ever read any of the Larry Niven Long Arm of Gil Hamilton books? There are sort of Sci Fi Detective books--very strange, but part of the premise is that just about anything in the body can be harvested and transplanted, from organs to limbs. Someone whose arm is amputated can have an arm transplant. This leads to illegal organ 'leggers' selling people almost literally killed for profit, but all condemned prisoners are automatic donors.

I've got a lot of reading to catch up on....I try and read a book every week, I'm reading an old Herman Woulk book "This is my God" this week...last week it was some Clive Cussler, the week before some Anne Rice, and John Grisham...

Well, it's an occupational hazard, but I have to catch up on adult reading. I get so caught up in reading what interests the kids, that I sometimes forget to read stuff just for me. I think you'd like the book. It's out of print, but fairly easily available used: http://www.amazon.com/Long-Ar...

Another quirky book I liked was called The Practice Effect by David Brin. http://www.amazon.com/Practic...

Winter is a good time to curl up with a good book!

when the date of their execution comes along, I'm sure they can hang them instead of using lethal injection and use the organs, instead of just burying them in the prison's cemetary

Even though they are in jail and on death row I dont think its right to force anyone to give up a organ. It should be a choice!!

Makes a precence that will make it too easy to kill someone who may be innocent.

Read some stories by Larry Niven in his Known Space Stories for details.

I think although these people messed up there lives, they are still americans , and should not be forced to do anything with there body that they dont want to do.Man If they can start doing that. where does it end.

That could also make more judges be quicker to sentence people to the death penalty, more organs for the market.
