Should cities require all existing and future cops to have an intense physiological examination before allowing them to police us?

Yes, heck I think ALL cops should be required to have intense physiological examination throughout their careers and not just at the beginning to get on the force. They should be required to go in for tune-up checkings.

Don't think for a second that a psychological exam would prove crap other than what the Police Cheif and the Mayor wanted you to hear. The Psychologist is on the city's payroll and normally has an annual contract with the court system. If the city says I want the psych. evaluation to say this... or we won't renew your contract... or we won't use you any longer, what do you really think the results will be? This type of deception is used every day in courtrooms by crooked Prosecutors and Judges and Child Protective Services Case Workers to manufacture charges in a case where they have no proof. Unfortunately the Judicial System and Law Enforcement is infiltrated with deceptively sneaky people. You think that just because their crooked psych said the cops OK he's fine, guess again. Hell pay me $800.00 dollars I'll tell you what you want to hear. LOL

There’s a reason why cops are acting crazy and the police departments higher only the lower IQ and battle hardened candidates. It’s because they will follow orders to the letter and aren’t above breaking the law if needed. We only have ourselves to blame, we are happy it’s being done to that person or that minority or that poor person but don’t think that it could happen to us. Do you actually think that they want to keep rousting minori...

We only have ourselves to blame, we are happy it’s being done to that person or that minority or that poor person but don’t think that it could happen to us. Do you actually think that they want to keep rousting minorities and poor people all day, Hell No. They want to go after people they are jealous of and that is guys that have the pretty wife, guys that are successful, guys that are living a life they want but don’t have. And the only way they can get it is to get you the father or boyfriend out of the way and then swoop in and take what used to be yours. And that is the mentality believe it or not of alot of these individuals joining the police today. They had no power and now they have power over the people that used to “lord” over them.

We will be living with the consequences of our inaction and stupidity for a long time and will be apologizing to the world and each other for just as long. I remember seeing a PBS program about the Holocaust ten years ago. At one of the concentration camps outside of the local town, they where burying the victims from the Nazi regime in a mass grave and while they where doing it the americans had the local leaders from the town like the mayor and such come out and stand at attention everyday during the process to watch the burials. I saw this and I wondered what was going through those town leaders heads, was it that they had hatred for losing to the rest of the world and this was victors justice. There may have been some of that but I don’t think it was for the majority. I think what was in their heads and feelings was shame, shame and anger at themselves at what they allowed to grow and fester in their country. And shame that everybody across the planet knows that they failed in stopping this from their own countrymen.

I hope history doesn’t repeat itself, I truly do, because we one day may be the ones looking down into a pit and wondering how all of this came about.

I do when I was hired on to my current job we went through a 3 hour physiological exam and then had to talk with a shrink for a couple of hours. That the way to weed out the bad cops who can't handle the pressure. I think you should get evaluated every 4 or 5 years too. It'll keep some cops from the eventual blow out caught on tape every so often.

A close friend quit the police force in CA because some of the cops were encouraged to get a little heavy handed with the teens. He didn't want any part of it.

I see no problem with this requirement in such a high stress position. However, who will pay for this testing? The state or the local communities?

the problem is they already do,at least in this city, all officers are required to undergo an intense psyche. exam.this exam is also required every three years unless the officer is involved in a shooting, complaint,or incident where a suspect or officer is injured, theese all require an exam before the officer is allowed to patrol again, his return to duty is based on the results of that exam.the problem is that a psychologist can only help those that want help,if the officer lies, the results of the exam will be compromised
