What in the world is wrong with putting Christmas or hanukkak displays in schools in order to celebrate the holidays? Putting up a display doesn't force anyone to accept that belief ( the 1st Amendmant specifically prohibits government entities from forcing students to follow a certain religion). Plus, Christmas is no longer just a "religious" holiday.

Funny that up till tenderly people never had issues with nativity scenes and such at hospitals, court houses public places. It's just last 10-12 years I have seen this.
We bend over backwords to not offend the what 1% out there. It's so sad.

Everyone has the right to there religion, if someone wants to put up lights they have that right. If a chruch wants to set up a nativity scene they have that right. If a jewish person wants to display something on their lawn, than they have that right. Shop oweners also sould be able to display decorations based off of there religion. They are not trying to ofend anyone, they are just trying to celibrate. People sould stop being so offended by it, that is the persons right to religion, and they have the right to celebrate it anywhy they want. As long as they are not forcing someone to do the say they are with in there rights (like making them decreate for chrismas and hannaka and Kunza and ect). To me this is like saying that people cant lite fireworks on the forth of july, because you are going to offend someone who is not neserry an american citizan (wheather they are torist or imigrents or illigal imigrents). Just let the people alone, it is only once a year.

How is it that you can get offended by an innocent display? It is not as if the school is putting a display saying "f***k Islam, paganism etc."

WHO CARES IF PEOPLE ARE OFFENDED?

I know this may sound harsh, or even racist but it is the TRUTH. Any country with the origin of Christianity, has the right to keep it that way! If other religions don't like it they should either go back to where they came from or shut their eyes and cover their ears until it's all over.

Do you see people going to Islamic or Jewish countries and trying to stop them celebrating their religious festivals? NO.

I love Christmas however I do think that nativity scenes should be displayed only at churches- not the town green or other public places. Same for other religions - display religious symbols at the respective place of worship. I still think that we could have secular decorations- trees, lights etc. but possibly I am being hypocritical.

in some places like portland, a church cannot even display a nativity scene on it's own property if it can be seen from a public road.

That seems pretty crazy. I am sure that private citizens can have anything that they want in their own yards and most yards can be seen from the road. The church is private property and they should be able to display whatever they want- as should every other religion ( obviously abiding by other laws regarding appropriate public display).

I do not want to offend anyone, period. If we have our Christmas then everyone should have what they want. The rules should be the same for all. The holidays are very special and everyone is very nice for a change. I personally think that the commercial part of Christmas is a disgrace and I am a christian and my God says it is wrong, Doesn't you God??

I not a religious person at all but I don't get what the problem is with Christmas Nativity scenes or anything to do with Hanukkah. All this PC crap from a very few nut cases and groups like the ACLU make me sick. Let everyone alone, Christmas is supposed to be fun for all and America can't let a few idiots who want everything their way ruin it for averyone else. This is like a form of censorship, if you don't like it don't pay attention to it. Why don't you dickheads try to ban books, movies, magazines and anything else you don't like. Pull your heads out, let us alone, and STFU.

i have no problem with that, just be fair & equal about it for all groups. a high school nearby banned christmas decorations yet allowed hanukkah & islamic celebrations to go on because they were concidered cultural. where do you draw the line as to what is fair? they tend to target one group.

Christmas plays at school have been a tradition since they did school plays. Everyone is so messed up they think separation of Church and state means. It only means that the GOVT can not dictate what religion we follow as was the case in the UK at the time

So you want christmas banned because you feel that people of faith are shoving it down your throat? How so? Why is it you seculars want to try and ruin christmas every year? I don't get it. What is offensive is just how OFFENSIVE you intolerant liberal moonbats are. You want "US" to keep the celebration of Jesus to ourselves but you want to shove Queer marriage down our throats and Abortion and the right to indoctrinate school children to your religion of LIBERALISM. Really you are a hypocrite.

who ever said anything about banning the holiday? i just want people to be private about it. what purpose does it have being put on display? believe what you want and leave others alone.

btw, we don´t force liberalism on you. just because we teach facts doesn´t make you a victim.

YOU just WANT? Who are you to decide who does what and when? Their is nothing wrong with having a nativity scene displayed. You are so ridiculous. Why is it you liberals think it is your job and right to decide what people do. This is America where people are free to express their views, opinions and their right guaranteed to us by the constitution FREEDOM of RELIGION not FREEDOM from RELIGION. As for Liberalism teaching the facts? Whose facts yours? You liberals are all about controlling others. How about you just keep your views PRIVATE instead of spewing your anti CHRIST-mas b.s to the majority who do celebrate the season. Why can't you liberals just let people enjoy the season. Just stay in your house and keep to yourself and be miserable.

good answer. i don't have an issue with others celebrating or not celebrating christmas. i just want to have the choice to celebrate christmas my way without being attacked all the time. what is so wrong with respecting others & asking for the same respect in return. respect seems to be out the window in our new pc brigade world. this has nothing to do with cramming chrismas down people's throats. it's about freedom of choice.

Christmas has become so much more than celebrating the birth of Christ (although that remains the most important part). It's about joy, giving, recievingm good will and time with family and friends. Think about the lights. The trees. The beautiful music.

Do you really want all that to go away? Do you REALLY want to take away such a happy and spirited time of year?

Why don't you keep your anti Christmas B.S. to yourself and stop forcing it on others? Really to be so offended by the most beautiful time of the year is mind boggling. It makes no sense whatsoever why you want to put an end to Christmas lights in town, Christmas Trees beautifully decorated, nativity scenes, Christmas Parades and the joy of the season. I feel sad for you that you choose to be miserable and you want to spread your self inflicted misery on the majority of Americans who do Love CHRISTmas.

i just don´t understand why you are so offended by the idea of keeping your religion to yourself. what would it hurt to keep it to yourself, honestly?

i celebrate christmas and i enjoy all the joys of decorating the tree and the house and what not, but i´m not saying you should just throw away christmas alltogether. i´m just saying keep it in the home. why is that so hard to understand?
