Should Child Circumcision Be Allowed?

Circumcision has been a religious tradition for many years, but has often been the subject of controversy because of the effect it could potentially have on children. On Tuesday, a German court ruled that child circumcision can be classified as "grievous bodily harm." The issue went to court when a 4-year-old boy began bleeding profusely as the result of a circumcision. Naturally, religious communities that practice circumcision are upset.

The court ruled, "[The] fundamental right of the child to bodily integrity outweighed the fundamental rights of the parents ... The religious freedom of the parents and their right to educate their child would not be unacceptably compromised, if they were obliged to wait until the child could himself decide to be circumcised."

In response, the head of the Central Committee of Jews said the ruling is "an unprecedented and dramatic intervention in the right of religious communities to self-determination ... [an] outrageous and insensitive act. Circumcision of newborn boys is a fixed part of the Jewish religion and has been practiced worldwide for centuries."

You are comparing a harmless choice to not be religiose with harmful choices so your analogies fail. Also read leviticus and you will find that some of the bible teaches hate not love.

it's freedom of religion, it includes all people. including kids

Education can be change, hygiene if you really want. Anything they teach you, you can undo them

    Not circumcision

Loving others people is an action you do. Doesn't change my life at all

There may be benefits, but there's also problems. So it's to the person who will live with either side to chose the side

Can you explain your position of freedom of religion vs. your objection to circumcision?

The Bible explicity commands Jewish parents to cricumcise their son on the eighth day. It's a fundamental part of Judaism.

If my religion tells me to kill you, you will agree ?

Freedom of religion is for yourself, doesn't allow you to do anything to others people

Well then, according to you, we have a conflict between "Freedom of Religion" and Judaism, n'est-ce pas?

    Is that what you want?

You don't answer me. Would you agree if my religion would tell me to kill you ?

Judaism can conflict with whatever they want, they just can't win

    Religion can't stop peoples rights

No. We would have a religious war.

And if you want to have a conflict with Judaism, go right ahead.

Just one piece of advice: check history out before you do that, and see what happens when people make war on Judaism.

ahahah you're like the funniest stupid person we have here, I think

You will follow the law like everyone else. We wouldn't let you kill people just because your religion would say so.

You only won when others people won it for you, and it was because others were even worse

Using your terminology and mind set, parents have been 'screwing' kids brains since the beginning of time. And since that time, YOU happen to be the ONLY one to realize this injustice over the thousands of years? What an intellect you must be. No sarcasm, just an observation. Were your parents minds 'screwed' with by their parents? And were your Grandparent's minds 'screwed' with by your Great Grandparents, and so on? Wow, talk about a conspiracy theory, wow. this one takes the cake.

    And you are how old?

You have experienced so much in your short lifetime that you can decide what is 'WRONG' for SOMEONE ELSE'S child, but they aren't fit to decide what is 'RIGHT' for THEIR OWN CHILD? Grow up. Everyone has an opinion, but most are based on experience not just, "I think this, but I haven't experienced anything yet".

no, my parents did a nice job, and theirs before. thank you

I don't care about people having others opinions, as long as it stays on their body

You would be against putting tatoo on a baby right? They could think it's the right thing

Would you be in favor of removing a baby from his parents, who had him circumcised according to Jewish tradition?
  • xcheshi... Playerazzi 2012/07/05 00:16:25

they should be stopped from doing it
  • Playerazzi xcheshi... 2012/07/05 10:12:56

Well, I'm glad you are not in a decision-making position.

Because you see, the Jews fought against this philosophy once, and won.

You do NOT want to fight against Judaism.

Lol, you talk like they have a bigger position than others citizens

They don't make law, but yes, I want babies out of bad families, like we do when a father beats his kids

So, say an Orthodox Jewish family has a baby boy. And they make a circumcision ceremony on the eighth day.

Would you be in favor of social services removing that baby from the parents?
  • xcheshi... Playerazzi 2012/07/08 14:52:40

It's not about the size, but about the right things

If a law protects citizens, it's right
  • Playerazzi xcheshi... 2012/07/08 15:16:41
    Playerazzi
    I see.

So, you have said that "if you can't respect kids, you shouldn't have any" and you are against circumcision.

But according to Judaism, Jews *must* circumcise their boys.

So, would you therefore be in favor of a law that prohibits Jews from having boys? After all, they are going to circumcize them.
  • xcheshi... Playerazzi 2012/07/09 14:35:06
    xcheshirecat
again, I don't fu**** care what your religion says. It is not greater than someone's right

Some jews, hopefully, can respect that fact
  • Playerazzi xcheshi... 2012/07/11 07:55:15
    Playerazzi
I don't care what you think, but for Jews, the commandment for circumcision is more important than anyone's opinions on "rights".
  • xcheshi... Playerazzi 2012/07/11 12:33:35
    xcheshirecat
It's not an opinion on right, it's a righ. If you are unable to think and be ethical, we don't care, but the law will stop you when they realize it in others country too

Your religion isn't above the law, ethic, and rights
  • Playerazzi xcheshi... 2012/07/12 09:03:38
    Playerazzi
    No, it is not.

Jews follow God's law, which is a Higher Authority.

No one is forcing any other parent to do anything. If a gentile parent does not want to circumcise his kid, fine. But if an Orthodox Jewish couple circumcises their kid, then that's what's going to be.
  • xcheshi... Playerazzi 2012/07/12 12:39:09
    xcheshirecat
you think you're following it. I say you're following an imaginary friend

If the law says you can't circumcize, and that's how it should be, you will follow the law and not transgress your kids rights. or you'll face the consequences. You're not higher than law
  • Playerazzi xcheshi... 2012/07/15 07:47:12 (edited)
    Playerazzi
You can think and say what you want, but in this case, the Jewish people will continue to circumcize. We can get into a long conversation about the existence of God and all that, but it would be a waste of time.

And circumcision is not illegal, so the conversation is a bit moot.

Yes, They have the right to obey their parents, be respectful, obey the laws of the land. They need to be "disciplined". This society is becoming degenerate because of the lack of discipline in the home.

Actually, if someone has been circumcised, and they REALLY want the extra burden of flapping foreskin, they CAN have skin grafts to have it replaced - for what ungodly reason I wouldn't know, after growing up without it and realizing that it isn't necessary for anything, but that's their choice.

When you have a partner that has not been circumcised and you wind up with an infection like my sister did with her ex-husband, say hello to the doctor for me while you are writhing in pain and scratching your crotch off.
  • xcheshi... Phil 2012/07/13 13:07:03
    xcheshirecat
There's no proof there is less infections. Doesn't mean your sister wouldn't have got it if he were circumcized too

    You are making false conclusions

An operation to get foreskin back from someone else ?
    Not the same !

No, no degree, and no knowledge of whether they want to be born or not, either. Their parents can't decide this minor thing for them, but the sleaze bag parents that spread their legs and poke any h*l*, at EVERY opportunity, can decide if they are born and live, or are aborted and die, can't they?

You'd object to someone crossing the street . . .
if they were on their way to church.
    So, you're opinion doesn't really matter . . . you have a religious bias.

    Of course my prayers matter.
A righteous prayer would be to ask for God's will in your life, the courage to face the tribulations of that, the faith to maintain the trust in his will during that, and to become a more loving person in thought and in action.
    Prayers are changing me.

And the prayers aren't just before I go to bed. Prayers are constantly being said throughout the day. It's course adjustments constantly being made as I steer . . . and ask Him to steer me in the right direction.

I could never go back to not having that relationship and falling back into a Godless world void of the love he shows me daily.
