Should Child Circumcision Be Allowed?

Circumcision has been a religious tradition for many years, but has often been the subject of controversy because of the effect it could potentially have on children. On Tuesday, a German court ruled that child circumcision can be classified as "grievous bodily harm." The issue went to court when a 4-year-old boy began bleeding profusely as the result of a circumcision. Naturally, religious communities that practice circumcision are upset.

The court ruled, "[The] fundamental right of the child to bodily integrity outweighed the fundamental rights of the parents ... The religious freedom of the parents and their right to educate their child would not be unacceptably compromised, if they were obliged to wait until the child could himself decide to be circumcised."

In response, the head of the Central Committee of Jews said the ruling is "an unprecedented and dramatic intervention in the right of religious communities to self-determination ... [an] outrageous and insensitive act. Circumcision of newborn boys is a fixed part of the Jewish religion and has been practiced worldwide for centuries."

You're sadly misinformed. FGM can be directly comparable to MGM. - the WHO classify FGM. Into four types.

Female genital mutilation is classified into four major types.

Clitoridectomy: partial or total removal of the clitoris (a small, sensitive and erectile part of the female genitals) OR only the prepuce (the fold of skin surrounding the clitoris - foreskin)
Excision: partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora, with or without excision of the labia majora (the labia are "the lips" that surround the vagina).
Infibulation: narrowing of the vaginal opening through the creation of a covering seal. The seal is formed by cutting and repositioning the inner, or outer, labia, with or without removal of the clitoris.
Other: all other harmful procedures to the female genitalia for non-medical purposes, e.g. pricking, piercing, incising, scraping and cauterizing the genital area.

Notice the 'clitoral hood, and type 4. Both are comparable or LESS than male circ. Both are more common than type 2 or 3. And ALL are (rightfully) illegal.

Although I am a religious person, a Catholic, and circumsized - I'm going to approach this from a totally non-religious perspective. Isn't it a good idea from a hygiene perspective? And quite frankly, this is a question for the women, but... isn't a circumcized penis better looking? I mean, seriously, as a heterosexual guy, I have to admit, a non-circumcized penis is weird looking. Maybe it's because what I'm used to. I don't know. Just asking. Just sharing.

Ok, this may sound weird, but when it comes to men, the penis is the last thing that women look at. Most women don't care how big or small or how much skin is on a penis. Most women like 'that area' shaved only because (from my experience) having a lot of hair down there makes sexual intercourse for the women sorta itchy. It just feels weird

You're a little on the strange side. I don't think I have ever heard of a man shaving his genital area because a girl didn't like hair down there. As a man, I would find another lady. If you have required your sexual partner to shave his pubic hair, and he did it, I would say that he is p-whipped, big time, and deserves an ass whoopin' from his bro's.

The Atheist wants us to stop being religious. Don't mention God in public. Don't celebrate religious holidays in public. Don't do anything our God expects from us in public. They want the Constitution ruined because it was crafted in the promise of God. They want God off our money and out of our courts along with our government.
Soon they will win their goal and the country will pass away.

Courts themselves are anti Christ not portraying the Character of Christ, but rather the character of Satan. The constitution potentially could allow the Taliban with Islamic law to be the new court system doing what demonic truth hiding truth twisting religions would only dream of doing to the sexualities, and bad to humans they never thought they could do bad to. God is never on money. How can God be on something he never made? It would be like making an idol chiseling out the name God on it, and then someone saying lets remove God from the iodol. The thing is God was never on or in the idol.

There will always be someone or something that can go wrong. Usually you outweigh the good and bad of it all. Now.. if infection more than often caused problems in 80% of the cases.. then I would say shut it down... but that's not the case.

It is a commandment from God and has been followed for thousands of years by the Jewish people. You dont like that, argue it with God. No man made law will be obeyed by those faithful to God and His Law.

If you wait till the child is old enough to decide do you think the child will want to have it done? It's mostly a religious practice that does no harm to the child - its only a piece of skin that is removed which does have certain health benefits regarding cleanliness.

If you want to go through all of the pain at the age of consent go ahead. Mine was done as a baby and I have no recollection of it. If I had it done as an adult well try walking about with it. No thanks.

I tend to be a bit of a hard nose. I have one rule. If you live in my house and I support you I make the decisions. It worked for my parents and it worked for my kids too. The minute you move out and support yourself you are free to do what you want when you want but NOT until then.

Did he make the mistake to give woman floppy tits, or droopy eyelids? Or how about guys with a big pot belly? This is all rediculous. However, someone thought it was necessary. By the way. God did give the gift of free will....Right?....Just a thought...

"Context"... Google, Wiki and even Webster, can give you an education on context. When you figure out what context really means, then repost, with something that actually pertains to the subject. I will wait for your response.....Just a thought...

Beyond the fact that the parents should not have their legal rights over their children taken away, and beyond the fact that there are medical benefits to circumcision, for a large population of people, it is a religious issue as well. Germany is known to be anti-sematic, and there is no doubt in my mind that this is a huge stab at Jews.

For every man restoring his foreskin, two more are circumcising. People who compare female circumcision to male circumcision should not be telling others to become educated. Female circumcision most often involves the entire removal of of the external genitalia, clitoris and all. There can be NO sexual pleasure received externally. Male circumcision involves cutting a flap of skin. Apples and oranges. And yes, there are some medical benefits... Less risk of bacterial infections, less risk of stds, less risk of cancers, etc.

I believe that It should be done at birth for cleanlinesss and aesthetic reasons. I had a friend who had his done as a full grown man because he constantly had "problems." In any event it was an excruciatingly painful procedure and had to spend several days in the hospital and even after that he had pain and couldn't walk very well for days. Furthermore it isn't the snipping off of body parts like say a clitoris. A foreskin is just skin that is not necessary for the function of anything but to gather fuzz and anything and everything else.

"Aesthetic reasons" That is kind of sad you think males should have to be cut for females . And foreskin is not just skin.
