Should Chick-Fil-A be banned because it's CEO does not support gay marriage?

This is a re-asking of a question proposed by Adam Jensen of Sarif Industries, only with more options since it seems that boycotting has been proposed repeatedly.

As he had posted: "I'm pretty sure most of you heard this, but a few days ago the CEO of Chick-Fil-A said he and his company are in favor of traditional marriages and not gay marriages. Rahm Emmanuel, the current Mayor of Chicago, is supporting the idea of banning Chick-Fil-A from building in Chicago for the CEO's comments, even though they have obtained a permit to build. I understand that the CEO's comments may offend some people, but I thought it was okay for people to disagree on certain issues. Should Chick-Fil-A be punished for not taking the politically correct stance on this issue?"

Edit: I'm only looking at this question in reference to the article posted. The question is more focused on only those statements having been said, regardless of what the response of the gay community was.

He has a right to his opinion. Last time I checked we still live in the USA and we have a right to our opinions as well as the freedom of speech. I may not agree with his opinion or I may agree with it but regardless of whether I do or don't does not provide a basis to ban the company.

i have to wonder why the ceo of a fast food company finds it important to speak out on behalf of his company about a polarizing political topic. that seems crazy unless hes only doing it for free advertising and creating a pack mentality against the gays in order to make more profit

It's his opinion. I would never hinder his freedom of speech. Boycott it if you want to or don't if you don't want to.

No, that's silly. They have a right to their opinion, I certainly won't boycott them. I love their chicken. I'm sick of the gay population insisting that everyone bow down to them and their beliefs.

Hmm... I don't believe in the article referred there was mention of the Gay community calling for their boycott or banning.

I'm NOT arguing that it didn't happen, but I'm only looking at this question in reference to the article posted. The question is more focused on only those statements having been said, regardless of what the response of the gay community was.

I'll post this as a comment to help clarify the question.

Nobody's being forced to eat there. Banning things is just a left-wing reflex, anymore.

If the guy came out in favor of some Liberal issue, we'd never have heard anything about it.

No, the government shouldn't ban them.

However I would very much like Socialists, Marxists and Communist banned from public office.
