Most of them have the brains of garden snails and the political wisdom of 8-year-olds. Any one who listens to celebrities about politics is too stupid to vote.

Most Hollywood types, IMO, are village idiots. Just because someone has an artistic talent, does not mean they have a lick of sense where the world is concerned....economics, morals, domestic & foreign policy, etc.

Most celebs are flaky liberals and they should keep there endorsements to themselves regardless of who they support. It can backfire on them financially if they make the wrong choice.

They can a host a party and help raise money. They can also introduce relatively unknown candidates like Oprah did for President Obama in 2007. Quite frankly, however, I do not think anybody votes for candidates based on solely on celebrity endoresements.

Since the question are loaded. They have as much right as anybody else to do so, if you want it stopped ban all endorsements including those from companies, PACs, and politicians.

You need to do your own research and find which candidate aligns with your views. Just because you liked an actor/actress in a certain movie doesn't mean that they believe in the same political ideas that you do.

Unlike some responses to this question I will refrain from attacking or demeaning the character of the individuals who endorse. I will simply remind everyone that the majority of these same celebrities are not real heroes. They pretend to be for money, fame and recognition. How much value can you place on the opinion of someone who spends the majority of their life in such a fantasy make believe world? Are you really that intellectually bankrupt?

People in show business are there to entertain all the people. They are entitled to their opinions but not in their public personna. Its ultimately foolish, because no matter whom they endorse, they risk alienating about 50% of their "audience".

They can endorse whomever they choose. But who in their right mind would really care. A sane person should know that these people don't live in the "real world." And...anything they can do or say to get a little airtime is all they desire.

Most celebrities are no better educated than I am....probably less on the issues that effect the average American. Many of them live a very self indulgent life with unlimited money supplies, body guards, entourages....etc.
Thier political opinions are worthless to me, except to define who they really are.

My "Nope" is for this question which offers no alternatives aside from the views of the one who posted it. As far as celebs go, they are citizens as much as you and I, why should they not be allowed to have their say simply because they are successful in their chosen vocations. Isn't that what america is supposed to be all, freedom of speech?

Most celebrities know less about the issues than I do. They seldom miss an opportunity to prove it.

It makes no sense to consider their endorsements unless they have a compelling case about some issue and it leads to endorsing a candidate.

Most celebrity endorsements die of hypocrisy. These are the people who preach climate change and drive a Prius when the cameras are rolling, and then fly a private jet when they think nobody is looking.

Frankly, some of the "celebrities" repulse me. Candidates would do well to distance themselves as much as possible from them. I'm sure Clint Eastwood's senile monologue cost Romney as many votes as it won him. And is Snoop Whaterver-he-is-today angling to be named Surgeon General?

Celebrities have as much right to choose or support any candidate they wish, but they should NOT link it to their personal talent and status. The two have nothing to do with each other.

IF they have spent the time and energy to research the issues and backgrounds of the candidates, then their opinions would have value. Otherwise, no.

anyone can endorse any candidate they choose. the real question is why anyone cares who they endorse? is because they are pretty? or have they expressed any intelligent commentary about who they are endorsing.

Vast majority of celebrities endorse for profit. The profit is monetary or personal (ego). Almost all political endorsements are for ego satisfaction and publicity. These folks are normally not worth listening to nor heeding their endorsement. This goes especially for the ones with a history of criminal behavior, drugs, alcohol, lack of marital stability, violence, etc.

They don't necessarily need to be endorsements so we follow them, but if an actor or actress shows interest in something other than themselves or their performances then at least we have more proof that political alignments matter.
