Should CAIR have a voice in determining the NYPD's anti-terrorist policies?

CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) is one of many Muslim interest groups that purport to represent the Islamic community in America, but in reality have well established ties to Hamas and other terror groups.

CAIR was designated by the U.S. Justice Department for its role in terror financing during the nation’s largest-ever trial on the subject.

Outside of its support for terror organizations, CAIR works to quickly and effectively to silence any discussions about radical Islam by playing the racism card and accusing critics of Islamophobia. CAIR’s devices are effective.

As soon as the story broke that the NYPD was using the documentary "The Third Jihad" in its counter-terrorism training program, CAIR immediately branded the film "anti-Muslim propaganda" in a press release. This was followed by a CAIR-led protest on the steps of City Hall calling for the resignation of the NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.

I don't see anything about giving Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, or any other religion standing to decide NYPD's anti-terrorist policies. Why should this group be different? Seems racist to include them and not everyone else.

To all CAIR members : This IS America. Do NOT come here and tell us what to do or how to do it. Personally, I don't know what the hell you are all doing here anyway, go home ! Quit playing the race card, we have already been through that, and it's really sickening. As for Islamophobia; no phobias here, I dislike ALL ignorant, controlling people the same ! Put that in your hukas and smoke it.

If CAIR has established ties with terrorist groups, they shouldn't be involved in it.

Since when has the Islamic group have a stake or say in how we conduct our police business. That is other than those that have become American citizens, adopted & practice what the constitution stands for. I don't see why we need the CAIR. Why can't the bloody anti constitutional Islamic society leave us the bloody heck alone.

If they are purporting to represent Islamic groups, but are really a front for support of terrorist activities, then it would be like inviting Satan to be involved in determining how Christian churches should worship - and history records that that has caused more wars than anything else. The question is daft, the organisation should not be allowed to exist, never mind have a voice in anything. I hope their protest on the steps of city hall was counterbalanced with clarifying protest against them and press release outlining that the protest was by a terrorist-inspired and led dangerous group. The problem with freedom of speech is that we must have a voice from BOTH sides, or the weak-minded or disinterested will be shepherded into becoming ruled over by such organisations. That is the way that Adolf Hitler was able to gain power - gaining popularity by supporting the desire for a better deal for Germany, and then, when voted in, turning to dictatorship, repression, murder of opposing people, and then invasion of other countries. If it wasn't for Britain and America working together, we might well have been ruled over by Nazis. We must wake up, before more atrocities like the World Trade Center attack comes upon America. It is said that for evil to triumph, all that is required...

Yeah....the collective voice of CAIR should declare, "WE SURRENDER". Please don't send us to Gitmo!
However, On the other hand, I just learned that by presidential fiat, Gitmo is getting a multimillion dollar facelift on the back of taxpayers, to make the terrorist's.....oops, err, I mean "detainees" visit more enjoyable.

I have read the information you provided several times and I assume by the question you ask, that you are asking, "Should the NYPD's policies be dictated or influenced by CAIR?".

I am going to take heat probably for my answer but, I believe that all constituents of a government entity should be able to protest and/or voice their respective opinions or concerns about that entity's policies and practices, the ability to question government is one of the greatest things about being an American.

On the other hand, I believe common sense and what is best for the common good gets tossed aside quite often in favor of nonsensical decisions made in the interest of political correctness, often to the detriment of the majority of the constituency.

Since many of these offices are overseen by elected officials or by those they appoint, I believe it is important that the majority's protest and voice is louder and the prominent thought on these politician's minds everyday so that they are less inclined to make these poor judgements.

    Sure.

And the plans for all important buildings in NYC along with the hours they're most vulnerable to attack, along with the best approaches and getaways for each. A list of police already known to be on the take might help too. Maybe give them a few spare uniforms and some police-issue equipment so they can "hide in plain sight."

Does the phrase "Setting the fox to guard the henhouse" ring a bell?
