Should animals be used to test out unnecessary products??

Animals are tested for many things. Useful things such as medicine are acceptable because we need that to survive. However, we do NOT need perfume or make-up. Animals are tested for these things too. Poor, defenseless animals suffer because we want things that we can put on our face or that we can spray on us. This is not right. I say we should ban the use of animal testing for unnecessary products. What do you think?

Medical testing is acceptable, but only when it's absolutely necessary as well. Sadly, often times this is not the case.

Yes, test products on death row inmates or the bastards that will make the millions off the product. Animals feel everything you can and I think its a no brain er as to what will happen to a baby if it get bleach in its eyes or if a rat glued to a board becomes distressed or testing Heroin withdrawals on monkeys. These tests have all been done over and over again its barbaric and hope those that support this get there in the end prefer reincarnation to live out there sorry existence as a test subject. Know the products and don't buy from the company's that do this.

It's only unnecessary when it's something you don't use or need but I'm sure others that use these products enjoy the benefit of the product not harming or killing them even if a few animals give up there life to make that possible.

I agree and disagree. I agree that we have to have animal testing for medicines. I disagree with using animals for testing beauty products. Which sort of makes me think I agree with your poll. Just wanted to sure my vote got counted correctly.

I can understand testing necessary experimental drugs, but its the constant retesting of beauty products, creams and lotions that need to be banned. If you don't care, look at your dog or cat and think about the hundreds of innocents whose vocal cords are severed to make them silent protesters! I hate that these things happen, but about 10,000 mice died to let me live. I had an experimental trial drug that was radioactive and saved me. I have to live knowing that those little mice died to let me live.

its stupid that we have to use animals for stuff we really dont need like make-up no1 cares what you look except for those preppy people who are sluts and whores and they claim that they love animals well look at how many animals you harmin with perfume and make-up testin i hate preps

If sciencetist are so interesested in seeing if a product has negative side effects why don't they test it out on themselves. Most times it used to test make up and foolish things. Medical may be acceptable but even then in that event I love my dog and cats and bunnies are cute so I hate to see them harmed. That would be why they have hospitals advertise for people willing to get $ to try new experiments and drugs. I know that animals feel pain, we never think that they have feelings but they do. Never do you see a human willing to take a risk at going blind in order to have longer lashes, we save that for the animals and kill them after.

Why not use the real "animals" in prison for rape , assault , child molestation and murder . At least give them an opportunity to serve the public and do something worthwhile . Why run these tests on a defenseless animal who DOES feel the pain and doesn't like it ?
With all the past tests that have been done and with the sophisticated equipment that they have in labs animal testing is unnecessary .

So, to save the animals it is then better for them not to exist? You are aware that these animals are bred only for these tests so when the testing is no longer needed then the animals are not needed as well.

I agree not getting the animals to do such jobs, but we also need to think about the economy that's being driven from countless people that purchase these products from day to day.

If we don't test, we wouldn't be able to find better ways to "maintain" the skin, the hair..so on and so forth, new products wouldn't be approved by FDA or any other organizations related to be put out on the market shelves.

Therefore, I think maybe if we start by putting a "quota" on the numbers of animals that can be used to test for a certain product, since this way we can start decreasing the numbers while finding a better solution and not harm as many animals as we do today.

Why not put the quota on the criminals in prison for physical offences against innocent people . Give them a one day reduction on their sentence for every lab test that they undergo instead of "time off" for not being on bad behaviour . The well being of innocent animals is more important than that of the scum of the earth .

I think its pretty cruel...if its soap and perfume and makeup...pay humans to try it out. I have seen documetaries on this and its just heartbreaking. i dont know how the researchers do it...heartless

Medications I can understand. Testing make-up or other things that aren't essential to survival is pretty pointless. There's no reason to put these animals through that.

Does that mean that we need to quit making any new soaps, perfumes,
detergents, make-up, ect? If we don't make new ones, then wont china or
another country that doesn't give a rip about animals ect. just do it
anyway? If we do release new products and people die because of it then
who's fault will it be(can't test them, people want them)? Unless you
are willing to ban any new product from hitting the market for our
"leisure" things like make-up, then someone will have to be a human
test subject.
