The reason this country was founded was for religious freedom. If we take that away we aren't America anymore.

ya, and bush invaded a country he's admitted (and so has cheney) had nothing to do with 911, and did that by abandoning the war in afghanistan, a country that really harbored the ones that struck us.

THEN he stripped us of both civil liberties and constitutional rights with his baby the patriot act. I also suggest you google "insurrection act".

It's not just the left destroying this country. It's the radicals in ALL CORNERS destroying us.

When Christian preachers molest children, and their friends just shuffle them around and cover up, or when christians bomb abortion clinics and kill poeople (and to make the point that killing people is wrong?), that is radical.

Have you ever googled the word "inquisition"? Try it. You'll find a slew of agreggious, horrendous and unspeakable acts committed in the name of Jesus, God and Christianity.

You also need a political science class. We are most assuredly not a majority rule country. Why do you think we have the electoral college? it's kind of why they don't just add up all the points a team scores in the season and he with the most wins.

It's also why blacks were given rights, even though the majority didn' think they should have them, and it's why prop H8 will eventually fail in the supreme court.

Our laws were designed to protect the minority from the majority. Christians can be just as bad as any of the other groups you mention.

Based on this comment alone, it seems to me that you are more similar to radical Muslims than Atheists or Liberals.

YOU, I am definitely going to downrave. Why? Because this country was based on the belief that EVERYONE could believe and worship (or not worship) the way they want to. You don't like the fact someone doesn't believe in YOUR god..tough....go take a long walk off a short pier and die. Otherwise...shut the hell up.

There is no mention of God in the constitution. The first ammendment was submitted to the states for ratification on September 25, 1789 and adopted on December 15, 1791.

Since the constitution was signed in September of 1787, it's hardly enough time to honestly say that "before that ammendment was made" we were a christian nation.

Finally, the constitution itself has NO MENTION OF GOD. In ANY context. That combined with the fact that a movement began immediately after the signing of our constitution to ADD the clause that's been interpreted to mean "separation of church and state" kind of support the fact that we never were a christian nation.

Maybe not, but it was written by Godly men. Read about the writers of the Constitution and you will see that it had to be written by men that LOVED GOD.

by men who loved god, but did not feel i had to. Which is clear in their writing of our declaration of independance, constitution, bill of rights, and many other historical documents.

PS, do you realize you sound exactly like the radical muslims you hate? The only difference is you're reading a different holy book ABOUT THE SAME SON OF GOD.

Because the vocal Christians strike me as being so un-Christian in the way they live their lives and the way they treat/think about anyone who does not share their beliefs. Not good. Not American. We have enough small-minded people leading our country without adding more religion to the mix...

This nation was formed as a result of the religious turmoil that was occurring in England and Europe. We are a Christian nation and other religions...this nation recognizes all religions...the problems we are experiencing is that one religion or another thinks we should have a National Religion...and the same old problem is occurring...dominance...it can rip a great nation apart...the history books are full of what happens to great nations when in turmoil and wanting dominance.

America is not a Christian nation, never has been a Christian nation, and never should be a Christian nation.

The founding fathers were not Christians, but Deists. They were not bible-believing men.

no, because freedom of religion is why a lot of people live here. america is a nation where the government won't kick you out or execute you for being of another religion.

Depending upon what you mean by that:

Yes - if it means people choosing to live Christian values.

NO - if it mean mixing government and religion.... which is unconstitutional.
