Should Amanda Clayton, MI lottery winner, pay back *all* her food stamp benefits?

Amanda Clayton, a 24-year old mother of two from Lincoln Park, IL, recently won a million dollars in the Michigan state lottery. After she won, she continued to collect $200 / month in food stamps.
However, state officials have now revoked her benefits.
Assuming Ms. Clayton started receiving benefits at the age of 18, that would mean she's received a total of $200 x 12 x 6 = $14,400.
Should the law be changed so that people in Ms. Clayton's position are required to pay back to the taxpayers either their entire benefit amount or a significant portion of it?

Panloker 2012/03/10 13:38:34Yes. Now that she's picked up at least $500K, no reason she can't reimburse ...+10Absolutely. I seen her in the news yesterday and she is clearly not ashamed of her actions in any way. I don't know how people like her can sleep at night. She even owns not one but two houses, and yet she cannot afford to feed herself? Starting to hear many stories like this when people are clearly well off are taking advantage of the system and us HONEST tax payers. I think they should make a example out of her.

I grew up on food stamps way back and my mother never had any money. Once my brothers and I grew up they determined that my mom recieved $1800.00 too much over the years (approximately 8 or 9 years), due to being in school and getting college loans. I was offended, and I wrote the check to pay it back. That was before WIC, HUD, and some of the other programs that get scammed all the time. We grew up and more than pay our own way.
So, you should repay. Pass it on. It isn't free money, it is to help those who need it to get back on their own feet.
and she should also face prosecution for the fraud of using those benefits when she was definitely NOT in /need/ as well ...
And if she sold the Food stamps for money to play the lottery then the money belongs to the Taxpayers.
