Should a team of non-partisan citizen auditors be appointed to scrutinize each bill proposed by Congress for wasteful spending before it is able to proceed for vote?

by all means and hire a team of lawyers for each auditor, so it can be broken down for them, and some independent judge to make sure the lawyers read it accurately. Give them all life time pensions too.

Congress needs to be held accountable, not to bury wasteful spending and get away with it.

Pathetic, is it not? The men and women we send to Congress to represent us and look after the people's interests now must have watchdogs to do the job Congressmen are either unwilling or unable to do. The mantra,"I don't have time to read every bill..." So why do they event want to be congressmen? When you see millionaires go to Congress and return home multi-millionaires, you've got your answer. http://images.sodahead.com/pr...

We already have one. Its a shame Bush never listened to them - perhaps we wouldn't be stuck with over 5 trillion in unfunded policy debt that continues to increase each day.

Quick FYI: Bush increased annual Federal Spending 166% since Clinton. Obama has reduced Federal Spending 2.4% since Bush. But of course.. you knew that, right?

There is no 'blame' necessary when facts are involved. A term you are unfamiliar with.

In theory that is a great idea, but in reality, we would need Diogens to find an honest man to head it up...

Congress, Republican or Democrat cannot be trusted with money, which over the years has been a proven fact. So an independant group with no connections with them needs to be there to oversee that money is spent correctly and no bribes or special deals made.

The difficulty is .. they'd have to be there as volunteers, no longer than 6 months .. assigned the bills at random and not be reviewing any legislation sponsored from anyone in their district ...

(and you'd have to determine if they can actually .. well .. you know .. read things instead of be just a rubber stamp .. which is exactly the problem we already have in Congress).
