That's ridiculous and demeaning to women. Are they also going to test if the boys have fathered babies?
That's between the girl, her family, the father, and her doctors. Furthermore, this accomplishes nothing but informing the school that the girl is pregnant-- which is irrelevant. Government funded schools that kick girls out if they fail the test are refusing to provide a girl the education she has a right to get?
Should a Charter School Be Able to Require Students to Take a Pregnancy Test?

My reasoning for saying yes is because there are many reasons why a young lady might not want to have this information out there BUT there are also special considerations that must be made to insure the safety and the HEALTH of the mother and child..
In the end I said no because after all is said and done.. THIS is a PRIVACY issue and even with the best of intentions the RIGHT of privacy MUST NOT be violated..
Now.. HOW this developes will end up being determined in the same way that it ALWAYS seems to come down to..IN the Courtroom.. The FIRST time there's a Liability Issue there will be pricavy issues as well....You can NOT hold the school responsible for the safety of the mother and child if they aren't even aware of the pregnancy..
Neither of my girls were teen sluts popping out babies at 14, 15 and 16. They both graduated at the top of their classes. Why? Because I did not follow what the law says. I decided what they had the right to do, and I decided what was allowed, and if they strayed from MY law, they got punished.
Now.. THAT puts a whole new light on this and I DEFINATELY do not support THAT..
I would say it depends on a lot of different factors, something that a simple gut check isn't likely to be the correct answer. Some of the questions to go along with it...
Does the state have mandatory disclosure laws?
How are the parents likely to react?
Who pays the expense?
How do you deal with the environment around school?
Will counseling be available?
And the list goes on.
